Fighting Cocks - What's So Fun About It?
Fighting Cock is a very popular brand of Kentucky straight whiskey made by Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc.. It's also known as Kentucky's Original whiskey. It's produced in Bardstown, Kentucky. Heaven Hill makes other fine quality whiskeys like Bailey's Irish Cream, Jack Daniel's, Jack Nicklaus and W.T.C. It's even produced in Spain but their products are not so well known there.

Cockfighting is a competitive sport where dogs (usually cocker spaniels) are challenged to fight each other using a specially designed weapon called a cock or cocktail. The dogs use training methods to gain the advantage in this competition. They will practice with their weapons on different occasions, like at dog shows, cocktail parties, and on television. The winner of the competition is the dog that can throw his opponent out of a ten-foot high circular ring. This is called "spurs".

Unfortunately the U.S. Senate has banned all fighting dog events in its future, due to the cruelty to animals act passed in 2008. However, the rules don't prevent cockfighting as it happens. So, if you're in the market for a new dog, don't hesitate to get one for the sport of cockfighting. There's no way the animal protection laws will ever catch up with it!

The only way the U.S. Supreme Court could put a ban on cockfighting is if everyone raised a white rooster. The problem with that idea is that the white rooster is illegal according to the UK law, which considers cockfighting as a medieval sport. So, the court couldn't possibly put a ban on cockfighting if there were no white roosters in existence! Now, obviously, they didn't do that, so we have to focus our attention elsewhere to find cockfighting competitions and spurs.

Because there are so many different cockfighting organizations, we need to look at the organization that governs them, or at least the ones we know of. The UK provides us with the Citizens' Crime Reduction Union, also known as CCRU. The Citizens' Crime Reduction Union is an organization that actually does regulate cockfights and makes sure that their members are not breaking any animal welfare act. They even have the power to fine members for repeated animal welfare act violations.

As far as cockfighting goes, the CCRU tries to take a middle road by allowing cockfighting competitions, but makes it very clear that any fighting should be stopped immediately if the conflict becomes violent. The CCRU also tries to make it clear that it's not the fighters' fault if one of them gets hurt, because the fights are completely voluntary and not organized by the cockfighting clubs themselves. They just want to play the game, and the fighters don't really want to be fighting.

So what happens when a cockfighting club in the UK holds a competition? The fights are usually pretty good and include a lot of people showing up who don't really want to fight. Sometimes they get so out of hand that officers are called in. Sometimes, ไก่ชนพม่า are called, and the fights start. If that happens, the organizers of the cockfights could be fined or even forced to close their clubs.

Fighting cock and bull are definitely a weird sport. It has been around for centuries in one form or another, and only now is it getting noticed by the rest of the world. Hopefully more cities and states will soon start to adopt some kind of law against cockfighting, but until then we need to allow this once-curious sporting event to continue its yearly tradition. Let's all hope that the upcoming congressional farm bill encourages more state legislatures to start phasing out this cruel sport once and for all.
