Bloodshot (2020) Film Review: Make Those Tired of Marvel and DC

Vin Diesel is indeed the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy . However, Bloodshot is the first film to "appear" as a superhero after Riddick (2013). DC superhero spectacles.

Synopsis of the film Bloodshot
As in the comics, the film Bloodshot tells the story of Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel), an American soldier who is killed while on duty. He was revived by technology company RST, and earned his own superhero name, Bloodshot. RST inserts nanotechnology into Garrison's body and makes him have super powers.

Trying to control his newfound powers and avenge his wife, Garrison turns out to have other problems, ranging from his memories to the truth about his wife. In addition to controlling the nanotechnology given to Garrison, it turns out that RST also affects his mind and memory.

Valiant Comics new superhero
Bloodshot is the first film in the superhero universe to be made by Valiant Comics. Therefore, this film focuses on the early story of Ray Garrison who will later use the name Bloodshot. In addition to explaining about the nanotechnology that is the source of its power, this film also explains the RST technology company that made the Bloodshot super soldier project.

Presenting a more mature message, the story given is even deeper. Vin Diesel, who co-produced, said that the main focus in this film is a situation where someone feels manipulated. “When we watch the news in our daily lives, there are so many moments where we feel manipulated,” he explained in an interview.

If there are many other characters in the comic version, apparently not all of them are introduced in this film. There are only a handful of characters who are 'assigned' to introduce Bloodshot to a wider audience. Some names were changed, different from the original series.

The first introduction of the Bloodshot universe
Bloodshot is a superhero series published by Valiant Comics since 1993. This series is still ongoing today. Originally written by Kevin VanHook with illustrations by Don Perlin. The series was interrupted in 1996 when Valiant was taken over by Acclaim Comics. Acclaim finally rebooted this character in Bloodshot (Volume 2).

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get all of Garrison's powers yet. There are only a few types of power used in this film.

At first glance, the story offered is unique and different from other superhero films. However, a slightly simple plot is still a weakness of this film. Many questions remain unanswered. Indeed, introducing comic characters that are not well known to the general public requires more effort. Bloodshot has not been able to raise the big name of this Valiant Comics character in its first adaptation series.

The fights and action scenes shown in this film show the power of Bloodshot. But unfortunately, on several occasions the animation and CGI used still feels rough. Even though it has collaborated with Imagine Engine and Method Studios who took part in Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020).

However, the Bloodshoot film is not wrong if it is called a differentiator for superhero films with a new formula. Although not very smooth in its delivery, this film can still be considered capable of presenting an unusual superhero original story. But there's still a lot to be developed, let alone the Valiant Comics universe being prepared.

The government has also begun to issue appeals in the form of social distancing , for example those who are currently on holiday for two weeks, cancel various events, and the possibility of WFH aka Work From Home. Wow, stay at home, are you bored, don't you die?

I don't think you need to react like that. After all, if you're healthy, it's still okay to go out for a breeze, or have some pretty snacks, as long as you're not far from home. But again, what are you going to do to spend the day, especially on the weekends? 5. Origami
One more Japanese thing that I really recommend. It looks a bit childish. But there's nothing wrong with reminiscing about your childhood with paper folding and various folding techniques. Oh yes, my teacher used to be very diligent in making origami, luckily it's pretty good too...

Those were five recommendations for various activities that can be done during the social distancing / self- isolation period during the spread of the Corona virus. Sonic the Hedgehog Film Review (2020): One of the Successful Game Transfers

As a SEGA original property, Sonic is still one of the most popular video games worldwide. And Sonic the Hedgehog's struggle to shake off the stigma of film transfer from video games isn't always smooth sailing. Like Detective Pikachu (2018) , Sonic can be said to be able to provide an entertaining spectacle even though there are some noticeable gaps.

Hunted for his powers, he is sent to Earth through a portal made of rings. Until finally the explosion of his strength made the Pentagon look for him.

Come Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), a genius scientist who wants to know the origin of the explosion. When he was about to escape to another planet, he was drugged by Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) who was surprised to see him. This makes Sonic lose his bag of rings.

Dr. Robotnik is described as an evil scientist who does everything he can to get what he wants. While sheriff Tom is described as a hero who always wants to help others. And Sonic's friendship with sheriff Tom and their little bickering make for a great combination.

Sonic's portrayal of the ever-hurried ( well , because he's fast?) character and incessantly 'show-off' is taken straight from his video games. His children's nature and arrogance are also incorporated into the plot.

However there is a slight difference. Longclaw was the one who gave a bag of gold rings that became a portal for Sonic to move from place to place.

The plot of this film is easy to understand and the story is light. Don't rely too much on twists. What makes the plot a little "complicated" is only a little flashback at the beginning of the story, just like Deadpool 2 (2018) .

To the point of mentioning The Rock's name as President of America (the jokes are already in the trailer).

But the most attention-grabbing, of course, is the scene where Sonic is able to make everyone around him move very slowly, such as the slow-mo scene popularized by X-Man: Days of Future Past (2014) . Well, for children's viewing, who cares?

Film for fans or spectators?
Social media was created an uproar after the first trailer for the film Sonic the Hedgehog slid in cyberspace.

Not only did it provide a design that was more acceptable to Sonic fans around the world, it saved the film. I don't know what will happen if Tyson doesn't improve the design.

It is clear how Pramount really wants to make a film that is liked by all people, from die-hard fans to young audiences who are the target of this film. The story is made as light as possible, punctuated by comical action scenes, without paying attention to the misses in the scene.

There are scenes that seem not well connected. It looks fleeting, but there are times when you can see Dr. mustache. Robotnik that splits in one scene but unites again in the next. Or an in-screen car that has a different movement than the original.

And of course, Jim Carrey performed… just like any other Jim Carrey. Explode and turn all lines and sentences into jokes. Not surprisingly, director Jeff Flower could not stem the eccentric style of this veteran actor. It's just that it's Jim Carrey. And the portion almost takes up the whole plot and story.

It is difficult to bring the popular iteration of the game since it was first introduced in 1991. Apart from various oddities, from the usual scenes and stories, this film is quite entertaining from beginning to end. Isn't an enjoyable spectacle something entertaining?

Overall, the film Sonic the Hedgehog is arguably one of the best video game transfers. But Flower seems unsure where to take the focus of the story: Sonic fans or new viewers.

In the film Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020) , the character Cassandra Cain is played by young actress Ella Jay Basco. Getting enough of it, Cassandra or Cass is an important part of the girl squad in Birds of Prey. However, it turns out that there are some details that have not been revealed about the character of Cassandra Cain in this film made by Cathy Yan.

The character Cassandra Cain in the DC universe first appeared in Batman #567 in 1999. Created by Kelley Pucker and Damion Scott, Cass is one of many characters to have worn the Batgirl cape. But now, she is no longer Batgirl and takes down the villain with the superhero name Orphan in the DC comics universe.

Cass is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Sandra Wu-San (Lady Shiva). He was raised with the aim of being the perfect bodyguard for Ra's al Ghul. David Cain who at that time was a member of Ra's League of Assassins chose Sandra, because of her martial arts abilities, to give birth to her child.

Cassandra's Difference in Birds of Prey
In the film Birds of Prey , Cassandra is an orphan and lives with her adoptive parents. His parents often quarreled which made him prefer to be on the road, pickpocketing whoever he wanted. Starting from a man in a suit, to taking a watch from an old woman.

Still a little explanation of the character Cass in the film. Cathy Yan also never showed Cass' adoptive parents, other than their voices. Throughout the film, Cass is only mentioned as an orphan who swallowed Bertinelli's diamond. There has also been no explanation of the closeness of Cass and Bruce who will later become adoptive fathers in the comic story.

At the end of the film, Cass and Harley Quinn are together with other members of Birds of Prey. Before he and Harley escape in a car and sell Bertinelli diamonds. Harley even mentions that he made Cass his apprentice.

Harley Quinn will still be present in Suicide Squad 2 . But there is no certainty whether the characters in Birds of prey, including Cass, will appear in the James Gunn-directed film. But did not rule out Warner Bros. and DC will develop Birds of Prey 2 and explain what happened to Cass and Harley Quinn next.

Early 2020 opened with the rise of DC. and DC in developing characters in the DC universe. The combination of relatable characters and immersive messages, presents a typical DC spectacle but with a light tone.

Directed by Cathy Yen, Birds of Prey continues the story of Suicide Squad (2016) and this time focuses on Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). Struggling after breaking up with the Joker . Remembering after breaking up with the Joker, he was finally hunted by the people he had 'bullied'.

Finally he has to deal with Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), a mafia lord who wants to find the Bertinelli diamond stolen by a young pickpocket, Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). He is also being chased by police detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) and Huntress (Mari Elizabeth Winstead), a murderer who wants to avenge his family.

Get into Harley Quinn's mind
. Labeled as the 'former Joker', he must avoid the villains he has dealt with. At the beginning of the film we have presented how Harley must avoid criminals who want to kill him.

Through a dynamic plot and a steady pace from beginning to end, the audience will be brought into Harley Quinn's mind. It can be seen from how Margot ' break the 4 th wall ' by talking to the audience like Deadpool. This is a first for a DC Extended Universe film.

From the start, the story sequence is quite confusing with a few flashbacks and then back to the main plot.

Harley's post-breakup mechanism also represents Harley as an ordinary woman; a broken hearted individual who needs a friend.

Unfortunately, Jared Leto was not present to reprise his role as the Joker. Even the early story of Harley Quinn and the Joker was made with animated images.

The combination of action and comedy is quite a lot. Embedding comedy scenes in several fights, all flowing with a unique and interesting Harley Quinn character that is more pronounced than Suicide Squad . His character develops through loss, loneliness and betrayal. And Margot Robbie is brilliant in her character.

Message Girls Power
Margot Robbie arguably fell in love with Harley Quinn. Acting as the lead producer of Birds of Prey , he met screenwriter Christina Hudson in 2016 to work on the script and draft. Cathy Yan was chosen as director. Surely this film will feel different if directed by a man.

Created, produced, and played (mostly by) women, the film Birds of Prey is able to raise the theme of feminism from various characters who are oppressed and oppressed. It's not just the main character, one scene shows a nightclub visitor being told to take off his clothes just as entertainment.

The biggest message in Birds of Prey is about feminism. Yan executes Harley's story seamlessly and blends it with Harley's unique and eccentric character. Not only Harley Quinn's journey after 'deciding' Mr. A, but the various problems that women often face can be seen from the female characters in this film.
