Bilbo encounters a variety of characters on the journey, some familiar and others who aren't. The other good guys are the knights Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas and Legolas, who also join in the effort. The Elves Merry and Gloin meet an old friend called Tindor and the bad guys are the elves' main guard, Galadria and Galadrian.
