Five Iconic CS:GO Plays of the Decade

The Counter-Strike franchise completed twenty years in 2019 and yet remains one of the most popular esports titles. Here are the Most iconic CS:GO plays and moments of the decade.
ColdZera jumping Double on Mirage | MLG Columbus 2016 ColdZera's four kills on the B site of Mirage came when Team Liquid was one round away from securing the second map on Mirage.

At 9-15, Coldzera was the only player between five Team Liquid players and an empty B bombsite.
He got the first kill on adreN and jumped down from the van. But instead of falling back to a secure position, Coldzera jumped to take another shot with the AWP, this time getting two more kills with one shot. S1mple and Elige fell to Coldzera, and he had already done his part in the round. But he was not done as he took one more kill on Nitro to stay alive and secure the round for Luminosity Gaming. LG won the next few rounds to secure overtime and win the map in overtime, one of the best CS:GO comebacks at a Major. Valve remembered this play with graffiti at Mirage B bombsite.

Snax 1v4 on Cobblestone vs. Na'Vi | ESL One New York 2016 Grand Finals
Virtus Pro, at their peak, was one of the terrifying CS:GO rosters. The Polish team had a very dynamic playstyle, and fans loved to watch Virtus Pro in action. Each player from the Polish VP lineup has produced highlight-worthy plays in their career, but this Snax play remains one of the most popular clips to date.

ESL One New York 2016 Grand Finals saw one such high-skill moment from Virtus Pro's Snax. Left in a 1v4 situation, Snax had the accurate read on the situation and the skill to take down four Na'Vi players, defuse the bomb and win the round for Virtus Pro. Virtus Pro proceeded to win ESL One New York 2016 after taking down Na'Vi in three maps.

Olofmeister Burning Defuse | ESL One Cologne 2014
It was the semifinals of the ESL One Cologne 2014, and Fnatic was up against Dignitas in the semifinals with a score of 14-14. Dignitas had set the bomb, and despite their lack in numbers, they had the upper hand due to the bomb-timer. Olofmeister began defusing the bomb and stuck to the defuse, despite Device's Molotov. Olofmeister got the defuse milliseconds before dying, but it helped his team reach the match point.

OlofBoost vs. LDLC | DreamHack Winter 2014 CSGO Major
An iconic moment in Counter-Strike history, the Olofboost was also one of the most controversial ones. Fnatic was one of the best CS:GO Teams at the time, and the French team, LDLC.com, was the only one that could challenge the Swedes' dominance.

Fnatic and LDLC.com met in the quarterfinals of the DreamHack Winter 2014 CS:GO Major. The series went into the third map on Overpass, and the French players took a massive lead on their CT side. Fnatic lost the second pistol round and was down 3-13 on the CT side.

What followed next was a pixel boost and some creative play by the Swedes. They pulled an ace up their sleeve with a clever pixel boost that allowed them to see an astonishingly large amount of the map. The controversial addition helped them win many rounds, and finally, Fnatic secured the map 16-13.

The two teams filed complaints against each other for using this boost, but Fnatic eventually forfeited the game and, as a result, were eliminated from the tournament. Olofmeister's boost, or Olofboost, is still one of the most iconic CS:GO plays in Global Offensive history.

Flusha Ace - IEM Katowice 2018 Grand Finals vs. FaZe Clan
Few players in the game evoke as much fear and excitement as Flusha. A veteran in Global Offensive, Flusha consistently displays a very high skill ceiling and excellent understanding of the game. His positioning and patience with the rifle have helped the player win rounds in near-impossible situations.

At 13-11, Fnatic were just three rounds from the Championship trophy. But FaZe Clan had a full buy on a CT-sided map such as Train. After getting the initial kills, Flusha and Lekr0 had to choose to save or try to win.

Flusha snuck past the defense into the backlines on the B bombsite. Catching Olofmeister, and GuardiaN unawares, Flusha's two kills opened up the entire map for Lekro. Flusha was already behind enemy lines and all of a sudden, FaZe players had no idea about Fnatic's whereabouts. Flusha's positioning allowed him to get two more kills as the FaZe members were rotating to the B bombsite. He finished off the round with a one-tap to pick up his ace. Flusha's positioning, quick grenades, and raw skill brought the Swedes back into the game and one step closer to victory.

Eventually, Fnatic won the map and the Championship trophy in overtime. Flusha's performance in this round played a crucial part in helping Fnatic secure overtime.
