1.)What is physics?
-Physics is a science that deals with the structure of matter and the interactions between the fundamental constituents of the observable universe.
-PHYSICS, which comes from the Greek phúsis, meaning “nature”, is concerned with describing the interactions of energy, matter, space, and time to uncover the fundamental mechanisms that underlie every phenomenon.
2.)If two different theories describe experimental observations equally well, can one be said to be more valid than the other (assuming both use accepted rules of logic)?
-No, because the two theories are equal there's no more than valid. If the evidence of one theory does not suggest over the other theory both of them are valid.
3.)Can the validity of a model be limited or must it be universally valid? How does this compare with the required validity of a theory or a law?
- the validity of the model is limited and invalid universally because the model is just a representation of something that is difficult to display and it's just an initial idea or only describing physical aspects. while the theory or law is validated universally because the theory is tested repeatedly, the law uses concise language to describe a generalized pattern in nature and of course they are supported by scientific evidence and verified many times.
4.)Write the rules for determining significant figures
1 rule: Non-zero digits are always significant
2 rule: Any zeros between two significant digits are significant
3. rule: A final zero or trailing zeros in the decimal portion ONLY are significant
5.)What is the relationship between the precision and the uncertainty of measurement? What is the relationship between the accuracy and the discrepancy of a measurement?
-The precision of a measuring system is related to the uncertainty in the measurements whereas the accuracy is related to the discrepancy from the accepted reference value. Uncertainty is a quantitative measure of how much your measured values deviate from one another.
