Understanding The Relationship Of Religion to The Age Of Enlightenment
The Age of Enlightenment, sometimes referred to as the Enlightenment, was a historically extraordinary time in the history of the world. The Enlightenment was an era that stressed religion as the source of social authority and legitimacy and advocated for social ideals such as freedom, tolerance, and separation of religion and state. This period in European history is now regarded as one of the most important times in the history of the world because it gave people a taste of absolute power. The feudal lords and kings that had ruled for centuries over lesser peoples were replaced by enlightenment-minded monarchs. However, this time in the history of the world also sparked hatred and resentment towards Europeans by many less well-known societies, particularly those in Africa and the eastern region.

Thinkers like Henry de cleves and Michael Vissarionoff were the main supporters of the Age of Enlightenment. Each person had a different interpretation of the meaning of the enlightenment era. The separation of government and religion was a common argument among these thinkers. Nearly all the religious-based government of Europe in the last century were associated with a particular form of fundamentalism, an extreme form of political fanaticism, which included executions, torture, and slavery. The separation of religion from the state is the reason for the creation of the modern concept of human rights, dignity and freedom.

Numerous other philosophers and political thinkers contributed to the general development of the Age of Enlightenment. There were thinkers like Sir Robert Hooke, Christopher Wicks, David Brinkley, Henry Ward Chamberlain and pamphleteer Samuel Adams, and others. Their interpretations of the philosophies that emerged from the period of the Enlightenment were the main source of their contributions. Many of the ideas of the enlightenment period are derived from their interpretations.

The West's philosophy has made the concept of the Enlightenment an integral aspect of its philosophy. Some notable philosophers from the enlightenment period include Immanuel Kant, Jean Bodin, Martin Heidegger Alfred De Nouwen Thomas Jefferson, and others. Many people are familiar with the major ideas and concepts of the Age of Enlightenment. Some of them include Descartes' thesis that there is an inherent conflict between the desire for liberty and the need to preserve a centralized authority Locke's assertion that reason is the only source of knowledge; John Locke's account of how self-interest can lead to lead to corruption in the constitutional government and the great French philosopher Montesquieu's argument for absolute freedom, which are also central to the philosophy of the philosophers of the Enlightenment.

This argument was removed by the dissolution of religion. The idea of the state was born as the social contract became more important , as did the notion that there was an obligation to obey the law. The state was created to protect people's rights and freedoms. Since the people did not have to believe in anything higher than themselves the religion and spirituality of people were eliminated as a source for political power. The separation of religion from politics helped to eliminate much of the conflict and social divisions that surrounded it during the Age of Enlightenment.

One of the most significant events of the Age of Enlightenment was the separation of religion and government. The concept of a nation and culture would not be possible without a common source of inspiration and motivation and goal. The idea of the rule of law would have been just a concept without people being obligated to uphold the rules of society in accordance with their personal convictions and beliefs. These ideas could have made it difficult to bring about revolution. Eliminating religion from public life would have led to chaos and a loss of equality and significant freedom. Without the enlightenment thinkers and radicals would have had little to fear, but because they were afraid, the removal of religion from society was the first step toward peace and stability in society.
