Rococo Architecture - Some of the Characteristics
Rococo architecture is almost feminine and could have been the dominant interior architecture style during France's revolution. The style later spread to other parts of Europe including Spain as well as Great Britain. Art historians usually think of Rococo architecture to be an outgrowth of Baroque design. The Baroque design was a cultural break for the French culture, which was heavily influenced by formal styles like the Renaissance.

The decorative arts were heavily inspired by both Baroque and Rococo design. The most important examples of baroque architecture include the Diderais Parlour of France and the Chateau de Versailles, the Louvre in Paris and the Medici Villa in Venice. Each of these structures is very representative of earlier periods of French interior decoration. These buildings are found in many art galleries. They can be seen as either important examples of baroque architecture or as minor pieces that aid in the study of the style.

Rococo was a popular decorative style during the time of baroque late. It incorporated elements from a variety of styles. The most prominent of these elements was the inclusion of silver and gold. Rococo architecture uses a combination of different precious metals as construction materials and for the decorative aspects of the buildings.

Many of the elements of the rococo style survived into the modern age, even though most of the ornamentation has been replaced by new trends in building design. This style is renowned for its large, rounded forms and elaborate floral designs. This is combined with the extensive use of silver in the construction of the buildings and the ornamental details of statues that frame the facade of the building. Another characteristic of this style that is popular today is the prevalence of figures like the dragon and the owl often associated with romantics. Rococo architecture creates the impression that the Romantics lived in the palace of Napoleon.

Architectural Styles - Rococo architecture is characterized by specific architectural styles that are still highly popular today. The arched arch is just one of these styles. Arch architecture was popular during the golden age of Rococo and was utilized in palaces as well as public buildings, churches and universities. Other architectural styles used in the age of the Rococo include the vaulted ceilings which are characteristic of the Ecole Bilingu, or French barn-style ceilings.

Rococo architecture has three distinct characteristics that differentiate it from other styles of baroque architecture. The first is a precariousness or an excessive preoccupation with detail and form. The rococo's designers are not precarious, as are other forms of precarity. They want the building to be as perfect as possible even if they compromise on accuracy. The smoothness, or the detail of lines, is a major fascination. This is evident in the use of intricate and delicate carvings and paintings on the stonework of the structures.

tonsilp The other characteristic is a kind of playfulness that is characteristic of the works of the Rococo style. Many buildings from that era are decorated with elaborate embellishments. They often look like they were designed to impress and not as functional components of any human structure. A lot of furniture pieces from the age of rococo were elaborately decorated and sometimes required skilled craftsmen to construct them. A large number of pieces of architecture from the time were less expensive than their baroque counterparts. They appear familiar and comfortable, even though they were made centuries ago. This is another hallmark of the rococo era.

The last characteristic that we will be discussing is an air of romanticism and an effort to display the splendor and beauty of the city with its architecture. Rococo architecture was not afraid to accentuate the beauty of the city through ostentatious displays of grandeur. This characteristic is very typical of the baroque era but was also prevalent in the Victorian era. It is easy to examine modern office design and realize that a lot of what is done is just to decorate the office space to create an overall "cosy" atmosphere.
