Thai Movie Review: Legend of King David
Are you looking for some Thai movie magic? We have it! Every year in Thailand between the months of early December until mid-January, you will find a number of Thai films playing in theaters. Many of these films contain original Muay Thai knees strikes and kicks, but you could also see slow-mo action sequences from Thailand or classic Hollywood action movies such as Top Gun. Relax, take a break, and enjoy an extended movie night in the theater and prepare for a Thai movie marathon!

The Killers - The Killers is a film that was released recently on DVD. This Thai drama was awarded the top prize at Los Angeles International Film Festival. The film stars a variety of famous Thai actors including RZA Sukhumvit, RZA, as well as a few international film talents. The Killers follows a couple of cousins as they prepare to establish a joint venture. It's an Thai drama filled with action and comedy.

We must not forget about Pongsatorn... Also known as the King of Thongs or the King of Rubber Ducky, Pongsatorn is another superstar of Thailand cinema. While this film isn't exactly a comedy, it is definitely an action thriller. It was made in Bangkok, and stars Thanamin Noh and Dita Joon.

Muay Thai Outbreak: Another horror film you should watch is Muay Thai Outbreak. It's an hilarious Thai film basing itself on a real epidemic in Thailand in which a virus has killed off thousands of farmers. In the present, instead of being a farmer, everybody is a fighter pilot!

หนังสลัมบอยซอยตื๊ด There are many great Thai horror films that you can choose from. We must not forget Ledi Robben and Fulong, who are best known for their martial arts expertise. Their Kung Fu movies have been some of the best ever produced. You can pick from Legend of Xanadu, Swords and Cross, Hura, or Om Shanti. If you discover a good Thai movie on DVD, they're worth taking a take a look.

If you happen to find a movie that is more of a comedy rather than a horror film, you should definitely consider Phu Islet's Na Muang. Shot in and around Phuket, Thailand, Na Muang follows an unnamed girl who travels to India to spend the summer in India. The film is pretty lighthearted throughout, so don't anticipate anything scary for you. If you're really keen to see what ghosts and ghouls can do then this is the movie to take a look at.


Last but not last, BNK48 is by far my most-loved Thai film. Shot in and around Bangkok the comedy film follows two brothers who return after a trip to discover that their mom has committed suicide. Now, they must solve the mystery of her death and get back to their home before their brother's furious father comes after them. This is among the most enjoyable Thai films I've seen, and if you have not seen a comedy film before take a look.

Another good comedy film that you should check out is Baklava. This film was shot in Bangkok and follows a group of shopaholics who live from the stalls on the streets. These shopaholics decide to shop for new clothes for the coming season. They are stopped by an armed criminal and brought to the authorities.

Another great comedy Thai film is Ayee Sayulog, or End of the World. It is the story of Tina Major, a young woman who comes to Thailand from the United States. She quickly adapts to Thai culture and becomes part of the bumbler society. Aya is faced with many challenges as she tries get out of her situation and ends up in Bangkok where she hopes to become a dancer. Ayee as with most Thai films, is portrayed by the amazing Thai actresses Phra Ban and Krayem Khan.

The Legend of King David or The Last King, is an extremely enjoyable and thrilling film that you must go to. You might think that it requires a lot of work to make Thai films, but it is actually a very simple formula. Thai films all follow a basic formula: action sequences and comedy, family dramas, adventure sequences. The Legend of King David is the same. Wonha portrays David as a royal contender for the throne who must defend and secure his kingdom from enemies from within and outside.

The Legend of King David, like all the other great Thai comedies, was directed by Namo Tongkumnerd, an acclaimed Thai actor and comedian. Namo was the lead in the title role and also had roles in recurring appearances as a comedian in Thai comedy films such as Buksh Mai. Namo was also heavily influenced by RZA, especially in comedy music. The Legend of King David, like all the other classic Thai films is available on DVD and in many video rental stores. If you are looking for a fun Thai film, this could be your best choice!
