Young DJs need to invest in top-quality music. Practicing with low bitrate mp3s is a waste of time.

I am not DJ. This is what I have always believed. In high school and college I attempted DJing. I couldn't duplicate what I had seen elsewhere. To be truthful I didn't know what it was like to DJ. I'd often skip beats, turn on the 7th instead of the 8th and other issues led to my DJ career being a failure. But I can listen. Don't be discouraged if the goal is to become DJ professional. My story shouldn't be a hindrance to your goals. Let your imagination be free and do whatever it takes to satisfy you. This is how I see people. Do what you like and be your own person. DJs, being such individuals require constant support to grasp on to reality. It's good to assist them in seeing the world around. If you're a DJ, or computer sound fan like me, you'll know that mp3 may contain as much as 325kbps of high-quality sound. While it is a great sound however, it's essentially cutting-off sounds that are converted into mp3. This is done through cutting out the highest and lowest frequencies. This creates the sound not being full. If you listen to deep house music at 320kbps, it won't sound that deep. Comparing to playing it from an mp3 vynil the quality of sound is superior to crystal glasses.
New DJs shouldn't invest time (and possibly cash) in low-quality versions of songs that are popular. It's best to signup to services like Beatport, Fruity Loops or Juno Download to get access to a huge collection of high-quality, solid sound, which can be manipulated into remixes or mashups of less-quality mp3s to boost the sound overall. It is possible to still have amazing bass if you use a low quality MP3 but it will still sound awesome with the incredible bass. This is what mp3 sound typically lacks: great bass.

It is important to know that DJs should never feel overwhelmed by this knowledge. Do not forget to enhance your sound every day. That's the thing that makes great performers and entertainers. It is always ideal to invest in your equipment, so as to deliver best results with them, the most immersive live sets, best club dance mood, best times for the young people who go to clubs. Because they will come again when you give them great beats and heat. It's the norm.
