Twenty-eight kilometers from Palampur is an important center for the adventure sport of hang/paragliding. The city derives its name from the term 'Pulum' which in local language means "lots of water." Reckoned as the 'The tea Capital of North India,' Palampur is a major center for tea production. Local transport is commendable. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first confirmed report on the association of ToLCPalV with a leaf curl disease in a new host Basella from India. Gupta Department of Microbiology, CSK HP Agricultural University, Palampur, India. There is heavy competition for work among the farm labourers in Palampur, so people agree to work for low wages. Savita knew that this wage is quite low and she will have to work very hard to complete harvesting on her own field, and then work as a farm labourer for Tejpal Singh. Abstract: The studies entitled Integrated management of nitrogen and phosphorous through bio-inoculants and organic manures in sprouting broccoli brinjal cropping sequence under mid - hill conditions of Himachal Pradesh were conducted at the experimental farm of Department of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, College of Agriculture, CSKHPKV, Palampur (HP) with the objectives to study the effect of organic manures, bio-inoculants and chemical fertilizers on yield and quality parameters, to study the response of various sources of organic and inorganic fertilizers on uptake of nutrients and to work out economics of different treatments.
The response of different integrated nutrient management treatments in sprouting broccoli variety Palam Samridhi revealed significant variation with respect to various parameters studied. This treatment resulted in higher yield of 16.3 and 7.2 per cent and benefit cost ratio of 2.70 and 2.14 over recommended practice in sprouting broccoli and brinjal, respectively. 50 per cent N through FYM to rice followed by 100 per cent NPK to wheat recorded highest net returns in rice-wheat cropping sequence while application of 100 per cent NPK through chemical fertilizers recorded highest benefit cost ratio. Integrated use of inorganic fertilizers along with organics enhanced the productivity and NPK uptake by rice and wheat significantly. Rhizobium) as main plot factors and three fertilizer levels (50%, 100% and 150% of recommended NPK) as sub-plot factors were evaluated in split-plot design with three replications. The fifteen treatments comprising of three levels of each nitrogen and phosphorous (50%, 75% and 100%),three bio-inoculants (Azotobacter, Azospirillum and Phosphorous Solubilizing Bacteria) and two organic manures (farmyard manure and vermicompost) were laid out in RBD with three replications during Sep,06 to Sep,2008.

Azotobacter), respectively. The response of different integrated nutrient management treatments in brinjal variety Arka Keshav also revealed significant variation for the various traits except days to first picking. Duplicate type of gene action was observed in the expression of days to 50 per cent flowering ,seed yield/plant, plant height, technical height and fibre traits at Kangra location for TL-11 x Him Alsi-2, these observation implies the use of biparental approach and selection to be delayed to later generation. Complimentary type of gene action was seen for biological yield/plant, seed yield/plant for TL-11 x Him Alsi-2 at Palampur location and implies the use of biparental approach and early generation selection to be followed. The research was carried out in the Department of Crop Improvement, CSK HPKV, Palampur and Research Stations Kangra and Kukumseri during the years 2007- 08 to 2010- 11 using generation means analysis derived from crosses of TL-11 x Him Alsi-2, Turkey x Binwa and TL-43 x Binwa to transfer disease resistance and quality traits from exotic varieties to the released varieties.

Abstract: newline ABSTRACT newlineThe present investigation was carried out to study the effect of integrated nutrient supply on transformation of sulphur, zinc and copper into various chemical pools in the on going long-term fertilizer experiment initiated during 1991 at Bhadiarkhar farm of College of Agriculture, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur in randomized block design with twelve treatments replicated four times. palampurpanorama, palampur : The present investigation was carried out to study the effect of integrated nutrient supply on transformation of N, P and K into various chemical pools in the on going long-term fertilizer experiment initiated during 1991 at Bhadiarkhar farm of College of Agriculture, Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur in randomized block design with twelve treatments replicated four times. Studies carried by RAPD for marker identification suggested that the primers were not sufficient for distinguishing bands among the bulks. Molecular studies were carried out through RAPD to identify molecular markers linked to the wilt resistance. Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineThe present investigation entitled, Biochemical evaluation of tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn.) genotypes was carried out in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Basic Sciences, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur during 2008-2010. The grain samples of thirteen tartary buckwheat varieties / genotypes were collected from Mountain Agriculture Research and Extension Centre (MAREC), Sangla of the University during 2008-2010 and samples of fresh leaves were harvested during the year 2009-2010. Mean values of moisture, fat, ash, crude fibre, carbohydrates, total soluble protein, methionine, tryptophan, in vitro protein digestibility, magnesium, calcium and zinc evaluated in the grains of tartary buckwheat genotypes during the three years of experimentation showed the range of variation from 10.3 - 11.5%, 1.9 - 2.5%, 1.8 - 2.3%, 7.1 - 7.9%, 63.8 - 67.4%, 9.8 - 11.3 %, 76.0 - 93.5 mg/g N, 68.2 - 78.0 mg/g N, 70.7-74.7 %, 194.5-216.5 mg/100g, 49.2-57.6 mg/100g and 2.6-3.2 mg/100g, respectively.
