The Renaissance and Italian Art
Neo-Renaissance architecture is a collection of styles of the 19th century architectural renaissance that were neither Greek Revival nor Gothic Revival and instead relied upon a variety of classicizing Italian styles. The most famous ones were the French architecture of the time as well as the Tuscan architectural style, and the Baroque architecture of the later Italian Renaissance. Of these the most notable features of Neo-Renaissance architecture was its attempt to reproduce the Renaissance Styles while minimizing their imperfections. It was designed to reduce the flaws of older styles while highlighting their best points, thus producing the architecture that was modern and modern, even though it was partially in the style of earlier works.

Columns were a key feature of Neo-Renaissance architecture. They were utilized for both decorative and practical reasons. These columns were made from iron and designed to support huge wooden beams. The columns were built along the exterior walls, the parapets and sometimes even inside the building. Staircases were built along the building's exterior. They were lined with mortar or bricks.

The concept of the alley was also introduced during the Neo-Renaissance era. They were narrow passageways through which people could travel to other areas within the building. The arrangement of the alleyways helped define different levels of a building. Commonly used alleyways were called courtyards. Today, Neo-Renaissance-inspired architecture can still be recognized. Neo-Renaissance elements are used in schools, businesses homes, and even at home. The Pantheon is one of the most well-known Neo-Renaissance architectural pieces. It was built in 1512 by the Emperor Maximilian and Queen Isabella. Other notable Neo-Renaissance structures include the Uffizi Museum in Florence, the Vatican Museums, the State University of Florence and the Vatican Catacombs.

The Italian Renaissance was a major artistic movement that occurred during the Renaissance. Renaissance architecture was characterized by taller buildings such as pinnacles and spires. These tall buildings were decorated with beautiful artwork and were typically constructed in the Spanish Renaissance architectural style. Other notable structures from the Italian Renaissance include Palazzo Reale and Santa Maria Novella.
