Information on Regency Architecture
Regency architecture refers to the architectural styles used during the British Regency period. This period was marked by major changes in architecture in Britain. Regency architecture featured new styles like Georgian, Queen Anne and Colonial styles. These styles were heavily influenced heavily influenced by French and Dutch styles. One of the most popular styles of Regency architecture was the use of arches with pointed ends. These arches weren't just utilized to provide a focal point to the building however, they also included other decorative elements. The use of these decorative elements created a distinctive appearance.

Many people associate pointed arches with Victorian architecture. However, it must be noted that the Regency era was only one of the many periods of rapid architectural development in London in the latter part of the Victorian era. The Victorians had strict rules for their buildings, which included the use of pointed architectural styles. Gothic and romantic styles were also prevalent in Regency architecture. Gothic architecture is the most popular style of the majority of buildings built during the Regency period. The Albert Hall Museum in London is a good example, which was built in the Gothic style. The Queen Mary II's bridge is the most famous Gothic style. It is also known as "The White Bridge" because of its white crosses as well as golden arches and floral detailing. These structures originate from the Regency architecture period have inspired a variety of modern architectural marvels like the Chrysler building.

Not all buildings in the period of regency architecture were Gothic in nature, as there were some that incorporated the more classical style of architecture.
