Buying glasses online: a step-by-step guide

Step 1: Locate a recipe


A current prescription is required before you can purchase glasses online. It's likely that you will save your recipe in a folder, or in a drawer. Perhaps you even scanned it from your smartphone.

Step 2: Find an online reseller

Step 4: Choose your lenses


Once you find the perfect frame, enter the prescription and distance pupils. (For some sites this can be done later in the payment process). This will ensure you receive lenses that can help you see clearly at both close and far distances.



Add any accessories to your lens, including anti-scratch, blue light blocking or photochromic transitions lenses that darken in sunlight.



Step 5 Check the Return Policy


There is always the chance that you will order glasses online. You will then have to return them.



To make sure you're covered or that there are no financial penalties if something does occur, be sure to read the fine print of returns / exchange policies and product warranties.



Step 6: Confirm your order


Once you have found the perfect frame, entered your prescription information, added all coatings, lenses upgrades, and reviewed the warranty and return policies of your online retailer, it's time for you to finalize your order.
