The civilians who were involved in the tragic disaster was the number of 144 people, 116 lives were majority of the primary school pupils aged 7-11, & 28 of the other lives that were taken by the disaster were the teachers, not only that there were 19 houses were also covered by the avalanche & within those households there were civilians that had also tragically died, as they were either crushed, buried or drowned in the coal slurry.
