& the arrogance from them is what had caused the disaster- it was said that this disaster could’ve been avoided if the NCB had done something about it previously.
It was very ignorant & wrong of the NCB to not deal with the disturbance of the tip, maybe things would’ve turned out differently, such as the NCB removing the tip, it would’ve prevented the landslide disaster & saved many innocent lives from the tragic event that happened in Aberfan village.
The NCB was to blame for this, even though the rain had caused the water overflow but there were repeatedly previous claims & concerns that they should remove the tip as the outcomes would be dangerous, but they had completely ignored the civilians & even a couple of men who worked at the mines expressed their concerns but the NCB thought nothing of it, in other words- (they did not want to fork out the money to remove the unstable tip, to protect the lives of Aberfan village) & still carried on ignoring the outcomes that would happen in time.
Lord Robin was to blame, he was responsible & in charge of the NCB, he publicly offered to resign & had mentioned in the reports that it was a matter for the government to decide what to do, Decades later the local newspapers had declared that Lord Robin was to keep his resignation & had said that rest assured, his job was safe. Although there were around 130-34 witnesses, still nobody was prosecuted & nobody lost their position or job in the NCB as a result, which did come across as appalling to the families who had lost their children, they wanted some sort of closure & justice for the community’s loss as the whole of Aberfan had suffered a lot & grieving of what once used to be a happy village.
