An Introduction to Deconstructivist Architecture
Deconstructivist Architecture is a method of contemporary Architecture that is focused on the structural connections between external and internal components. The main focus of Deconstructivist Architecture is the destruction of traditional forms that are usually inspired by old buildings. Deconstructivist Architecture has a strong French influence and can be seen at work in buildings like Ecole Militaire in France, with its distinctive roof shape and pediment patterns bear considerable similarity to classicist architecture. The Yerba Buena Center, in Spain and the Alhambra Palace, in Granada are two more examples.

Deconstructivist Architecture is distinguished by a few distinct characteristics. First, it places a strong emphasis on repetition in both its external and internal structures, which usually result in repeated geometric patterns. Secondly it incorporates a variety of different types of material into its construction as well as concrete examples being used in concert halls and other public spaces. It also incorporates a range of stylistic elements, including surfaces that have voids or empty spaces, as well as complex color schemes and textures. Certain of these features are common in contemporary architecture, for instance the use of elaborate lighting systems, but this form of architecture goes much further in terms of using many different kinds of materials, and layering different architectural features on a concrete foundation.

The Deconstructivist Architectural style is post-modern in its application. It is free of many of the traditional features of other architectural styles. However, it makes use of a few of the most common features of Deconstructivist Architecture, such as the repetition of geometric forms, and the use of 'empty space'. This architectural style is often thought of as a part of the post-impressionist school. Deconstructivist Architecture Some of its traits can be seen in the works Frank Gehry and other starchitects. Some of these features are also seen in some modern art, and particularly in the works of artists who promote an the use of a different method to Abstract Expressionism. Deconstructivist architecture also draws inspiration from other architectural styles like steel detailing and the use different materials in building construction.

Albert Camus, a French philosopher, is the main inspiration for Deconstructivist Architecture. Albert Camus was a French philosopher who sought to answer the question "What is life?" and tried to answer it using an analysis of architecture.

The primary characteristic of Deconstructivist Architecture is its rejection of of repetition in construction. A typical example of this is found in the so-called Deconstructivist concert hall, which contains no visible support for the roof and is therefore known as a dance-house. This kind of construction was developed by an architect who believed that there was no need for a roof since there is no structure. The building therefore becomes an art house. In this way, the structure would act as a stage to allow the performance of art, i.e. the use of non-representational forms, and its role in allowing the audience to be a part of the performance art.

Another characteristic of Deconstructivist Architecture is its rejection of any form of formal structure. It is evident by the reality that in buildings built with a Deconstructivist Architecture there is no formality in the design. This does not just mean that a single shape or colour is utilized however, it also means that all traditional restrictions are eliminated. Thus one could say that Deconstructivist Architecture is essentially anti-formalist in its nature. Frank Gehry's Fagus House and Zaha Hadid’s Habitat for the Future are some of the most famous examples of Deconstructivist Architecture. Peter Eisenman's Glaziers is another.

The most common characteristic among practitioners of Deconstructivist Architecture is the application of many stylistic features such as geometric shapes asymmetries, free forms, as well as the use of color. This allows architects to create a random, diverse variety of designs. The architects are often non-traditional architects. This means that the architecture is free from any traditional constraints like square or rectangular forms. Deconstructivist Architecture is now embraced by artists, designers, as well as the general public.

There have been numerous debates about the relationship between deconstructivist architecture and modern architecture. Many proponents of deconstructivist architecture believe that it is an expression of modernism and was therefore ahead of its time. Others, who believe that modern architecture is void of any meaning and meaning, argue that in some ways Deconstructivist Architecture is actually a deviation from the modern architecture tradition.
