Art and Deconstructivism
Deconstructivist Architecture is a movement that aims to challenge the traditional designs, functions, and design of modern structures. It is based upon the idea that buildings are inherently unstable, mutable and susceptible to degrade over time. It is argued that architecture should be dynamic and adaptable not static and one size fits all. Deconstructivist architecture combines the functionality and aesthetics of an architectural structure. This type of architecture places importance on the human element in architecture by combining design and function.

Deconstructivist Architecture was first founded by German architect and philosopher Anton Schindler in 1932. Modern architecture theory called deconstructivist was created in the early 1980s. It evokes the structural degrading of a built structure, often characterised by a lack of structural continuity, harmony, or balance. Deconstructivist architecture is distinguished by a sprightly spontaneity that allows for an artistic approach to construction.

Postmodernism and Deconstructionism both are based on the concept of continuous change and flux. The movement is influenced by both structuralism and postmodernism and postmodernism, with distinct elements from each. The similarities end there. Both styles share a common theme of incessant changes, which can be seen as a gap between the present and future. These two theories are alike in that one emphasizes the structural damage to a structure while the latter emphasizes its aesthetic value as a work of art.

To understand the fundamental concepts of deconstructivist architecture one must first be familiar with the concepts of constructivism. Constructivism is the inheritor of Russian structuralism visual culture, and aims at creating an idea by the arrangement of the materials within a structure. To give the audience an idea of the future of the play the Russian theater has the entrance door that is located near the exit. By means of this method, the author was able to inform readers about the events that unfold throughout the play without having to ever show another perspective of the action to show the action in a different way. To maintain consistency in artistic content, constructivism rejects all views that don't fit the overall theme.

The use of texture in architecture is an important distinction between deconstructivist and postmodernism. In contrast to classical architecture where texture was ascribed with form, postmodernism allows architects to make use of texture to highlight particular design elements. This technique can be applied to both spaces and structures. A roof-like structure could have a texture that looks like an undefined pebble or rubble. This could appear as if it is being built in real time. Concrete panels can also be used to create the appearance of a gable.

Deconstructivist Architecture is a refreshing contrast to French philosopher French Nouveau's cold and sterile style. It places the emphasis on interaction and movement within the structure. The buildings are usually not constructed of just one or two pieces of material, but are constructed as systems that are made up of interconnected elements. One example of this would be a pair two beds that sit side-by-side on small platform beds. In a sense the beds don't just serve to provide support for them, but also embody their own form and function as distinct entities.

Deconstructivist ideas are becoming more popular in contemporary art. This style was featured at the New York City's Wexner center, which showcased works from the studio of Joseph Cornell. The works combine elements of painting and sculpture to show how everyday objects can become beautiful art works. Another exhibit at the Wexner center features work by Kenneth Noland's studio. He is a Canadian graphic novelist/photographer. The exhibition includes a plan for a chicken coop and a selection of comic strips that show the fun nature and practicality of recycling.

The Saachi gallery in Tokyo hosts a Deconstructivist Architecture Exhibition. It features installations by Frank Baker, a leading British architect, and Paul Curnoles, his associate. Constructivist architecture relies heavily on repetition of forms and patterns. It is not at all attentive to traditional geometrical shapes. One piece, entitled Sleep, depicts an egg-shaped shape and a cluster of bananas , with their long namesakes, seated on top of the other. Another piece, called Head, is composed of long, thin columns that resemble the human head. Deconstructivist Architecture From March to May this and other works will be on view at the Saachi gallery, Tokyo.
