How can you keep boredom at bay during long hours of working as a security guard in an underground facility

The times are hard. It's difficult to navigate the new gig economy. I was very successful in my previous job, however I was fired from my dental assistant job. Now, I have to work night shifts at the local machine manufacturing facility. It's mostly automated. Two engineers and me make up the majority of the night-crew. I have an emergency phone number to dial in the event of an accident, or when machinery ceases to function. Then, I call engineers and/or the outside line for additional engineers. I don't actually do anything. You see, they're not producing any value in this regard. So night guard is really a glorified switchboard attendant.

in any case I do like it. It's quiet. While I'm usually a sleepy person I find it quite spooky. It's boring to stay up all night and try new things to help it go by faster. I'm old and don't know how to explain this stuff.

Recently, I've tried different videos for car repairs. I'm not able to apply them immediately to my car but I love watching other drivers have their cars stop-stopping. DIY videos are informative and easy to follow. Then I ran into another problem. I realized that my internet wouldn't work soon. Therefore, I was unable to accomplish anything or even watch videos. I was in a position to download Youtube videos and put them on my phone. I was able to view diy videos when the internet went down. It doesn’t matter what you do regardless of whether you stream the video from an online site, or another place online or download it at home. It's possible to enjoy it directly on your phone when there’s no internet access or wifi. It's easy to set up DVR for streaming online videos, and not only TV shows.

Speaking of TV, to my total joy, I have figured out how to download new episodes or even films directly onto my laptop. I began bringing my laptop to work since it has a larger screen and superior speakers, making it better to stream TV shows there. I signed up recently for HULU. Then I've got Netflix. No limitations on wifi, and no wifi needed at all The file is recorded on my laptop, nothing can go bad even if the internet isn't perfect, it is not necessary for me in this situation.

Sometimes, I bring my son to work. My wife's night shift is too late, so it's difficult for me to remain home with my son. So, I bring my son along and set him up in front of the screens on my computer that I monitor. He falls asleep within minutes. If he wakes up I offer him my laptop and some of the music videos I just downloaded. He's happy, and I'm also happy to be able to do what I want on my phone. Being our own person is how we work better together. He seems to like being with me. Perhaps he is tired of being up all night.
