Freezing Hamburger Buns at Home
Yes, you can freeze hamburger buns too! They are available in the frozen bun section of your grocery store. Frozen bun's can be defrosted in the refrigerator and used as needed or put into a bag and frozen until ready to serve. The amount of time that they will last in your freezer will vary depending on the way they have been prepared and how they have been frozen. Most commercial prepared frozen buns will last up to 7 days while homemade and restaurant buns will typically last only up to 3 days.

Probably the best way to freeze hamburger buns is by using the microwave. The main reason to use this method is because it is so easy. Microwaves work with a form of radiation similar to that which doctors use to heat tissue. This heating process will cook the bread to almost internal temperatures within just a few seconds. Once inside the microwave, they will be completely safe and secure and will not do any damage to the bread.

Another common way of freezing hamburger bun's is by placing them in an aluminum foil wrapped zip lock bag. In this freezing method, there is no need for any type of cooking utensils. Simply place the bread in the bag, add water to cover it, and then place the bag over the heated bun.

The best way to freeze hamburger buns is by leaving them in their original packaging. When you are done eating, remove the sealed package and allow them to thaw on a countertop. Depending on the time of day, this may take several hours, or sometimes overnight. This is why it is a good idea to allow them to thaw out on a countertop in the late afternoon.

Now, depending on what you are eating, you might find that it will be easier to make a sandwich if you take a few minutes to remove the stale bread. Once you have taken out the bread, you can go ahead and slice your remaining buns into fourths. Then, place all four sandwiches on a plate. It would be a good idea to place a small container with water next to each sandwich as well. It will be easier to get any leftover buns to thaw when you are standing in a hot shower.

Once you have all of your sandwiches in a single serving container, then you can put the container in the freezer. As mentioned previously, this method will take several hours, but this is the most cost-effective way to freeze hamburger buns. In fact, this method could be done in about one day. The only difference is that you do not eat the freshness of the bread. Therefore, if you do not want to use the frozen leftovers, this might not be the best option for you.
