Organs of the Cardiovascular System
Cardiovascular system or circulatory system - transports nutrients (digestive products), gases, hormones, and other materials to and from the cells of the body.
- I t also functions in fighting infections.
Composed of : Heart, blood, and blood vessels mainly arteries, veins , and capillaries.
Heart - it is the organs that pumps blood to the different parts of the body.

Chambers of the heart :
Four chambers located at the center of the chest as big as a fist.
Consist of two atria and two ventricles.
Septum - muscular wall that partitioned the chambers.
Atria - the receiving chambers of the heart.
Right atrium - receives oxygen poor-blood coming from all parts of the body.
Left atrium - receives oxygen-rich blood coming from the lungs.
Ventricles - are the pumping chambers of the heart.
Right ventricle - receives blood from the right atrium and pumps it to lungs, where it is loaded with oxygen.
- pumps blood to the lungs for oxygenation.
Left ventricle - (strongest chamber) pumps oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body.
- its vigorous contraction creates our blood pressure.
Blood Vessels and Valve found in the heart
Blood vessels - connected to the heart.
Vena Cava - largest vein, connected to the right atrium.
- send oxygen-poor blood coming from all parts of the body back to the heart.
Pulmonary Artery - sends blood from the right ventricle to the lungs for oxygenation.
Pulmonary Vein - send oxygen-rich blood from the lung to the left atrium.
Aorta - largest artery.
- sends blood from the left atrium t all parts of the body.
