My favorite technique in section 7.1.6 is user stories. I can know the real experience of the customers when they use my solution. It can give me direct information to determine if I find the currect requirements. I think it can be used to define the future state because all the nature of business is to meet the requirement of customers. If the business analysts can get the information about the user stories, they can know how to meet the business needs in the future state. The strength of this technique is that business analysts can get a real opinion about the solutions, but the weakness is the answer may contain some subjective judgements.

When I worked in a baby clothes company, we always collect user stories to see if we specify the requirements from our elicitation. For example, our designers will have many new designs for the next season. We can know those mothers who do not like buttons and metal ornaments from the user stories, then we can modify our designs to meet the requirements.
