Let me tell you my story from my most recent Arctic cruise. It was an amazing, National Geographic journey thru the ice, then back with polar Bears, and many more creatures. There would be ice that eyes could see, snow and ice all around. Man-made tools were used to defeat the elements and move through the frozen wilderness of the northern wilderness. It sounded incredible, like fighting a huge fight against the weather north and the pole.

I was instructed to carry any technology that can be carried inside my bag. I did take my laptop along and also put in a larger display to expand the space. They assured me that power was not a problem. I wasn't aware of what was about to happen. I had no idea that, just two days into the 14-day journey, my Internet connection would go down and I would lose internet access for 10 consecutive days. When it happened I was shocked. Any trip, no matter how difficult or remote, cause me to be cut off from the technological world. Not only am I not able to finish my business, but I was also not prepared for it.

Nowadays, no one really cares about having to turn off their internet. Internet is everywhere. The trip was empty , literally and figuratively. Never have I ever been so bored. I was sure that the issue was going to be caused by the thick ice, so the boat needed to change course and be returned to civilization. It wasn't a shock, but it meant that many hours of idle time could have been used to listen to podcasts or watch videos for DIY home repairs, as as simply listening to music. Next time I will convert YouTube videos into MP4 and mp3 using my laptop. Music can help lift your spirits So don't get discouraged. Keep in mind that Hulu and Netflix apps are able to download films and shows for you to watch offline. These can also be viewed on the long journey across the arctic. Make sure you don't get bored from the boredom. Have fun!
