Are you planning to take an extended trip away from home? When WiFi isn't working, make sure you have enough digital content.
I'd like to tell you an account of my recent Arctic cruise. It sounded wonderful, National Geographic trip thru ice and back, with Polar bears, and numerous other animals. There would be the ice everywhere and there would be snow everywhere. Man-made machines were created to fight the elements and move through the frozen northern wilderness. It sounded like an epic undertaking, an epic fight against the north weather, the north pole.

I was instructed to carry any technology that can be transported in my bag. I was able to fit my laptop, as well as an enormous screen to extend my workspace. As they said, electricity was no problem. I wasn't aware of what was about to take place. Just two days into the 14-day trip I did not know that my Internet connection would not work and that I would disappear for the following 10 days. It finally happened and I was devastated. No trip should, however difficult or remote, cause me to become disconnected from the world of technology. I didn't plan for the downtime, in addition to having unfinished business I had to address over the next week and I also had additional things to complete.

It doesn't matter if are forced to disconnect. Internet is all around. If your home connection gets intermittently slow, you will be able to find an McDonalds near you and join their free WiFi. Better yet, you can take your laptop to Starbucks so that you can take a seat at the table and surf the Internet for as long as you can. But, no café, restaurant or cafe can assist you in the north. They're hours from the closest shack that has the electricity produced by a weak generator. There's not a free Internet nearby.. There are only two options: get a satellite connection or turn off the internet.

I am unable to afford an satphone because it's expensive, especially for Internet. When I venture out into the dark, I'll have a large collection of audio and videos. Last time I had only 2 songs. The songs were downloaded back in the day so all I could listen to was 3 jazz tracks and one song I couldn't remember what it was called. This is it. Four tunes for two weeks of nothingness.. If I knew this would happen I would have planned. I would have loaded my computer with TV shows movies, as well as a lot of music videos. mp34 download My favorite podcasts were the ones I would listen to for hours. It's simple to download podcasts, then convert them into MP3 format and save them to my computer. After that, I can sit in my bedroom and listen to whatever I want to hear at home but don't have time to. This could be my gold hour and would have been two weeks worth of gold. The trip was devoid both literally and metaphorically. I've never been so bored. The ice was way too thick. Being aware that it could cause problems The boat was forced to return to the shores of civilization. This was not surprising. However, hours upon hours of downtime could have been spent listening to podcastsor viewing DIY videos on repairs for the home, or listening to music. Next time, I'll convert Youtube videos from mp4 into MP3 format on my laptop. Bring these along to listen to your favourite songs from your laptop. Music can help lift your spirits So don't get discouraged. It is possible to download Netflix and Hulu movies to your phone to watch offline.
