You are planning a long and distant holiday? Before WiFi is unavailable ensure you have enough digital material.
Let me talk about my trip last year aboard a cruise ship through the Arctic. It sounded amazing, National Geographic trip through the ice and back , with Polar bears and other wildlife. There was to be ice that eyes could see as well as snow and ice all around. Man-made machines were designed to beat the elements and break through the frozen wilderness of the northern wilderness. It was breathtaking, as if an epic battle against the weather, the north, and the pole.

I was advised by my supervisor to bring with me everything I had access to. I was able to fit my laptop and added an enormous screen to extend my working space. I was informed that electricity was not an issue. I was not aware of the things that were about to happen. I didn't know that just two days into my 14-day journey I lost my Internet connection and be without internet for 10 days. flvto converter When it happened I was shocked. Every trip, no matter how far or difficult is going to cause me to disconnect from technology. Not only was there unfinished business I had to deal with over the next week and I did not plan for the downtime.

It doesn't matter if you have to shut down your internet. Internet is everywhere. If your home's Internet connection fails it is possible to visit a McDonald's nearby to get the no-cost WiFi connection you require. You can also take your laptop and lounge in Starbucks all day long. There's no place or café that will be able to help you further north, and a few hours from the nearest shack, with electricity produced by an ineffective generator.. There's no free Internet around the corner.. In such situations there are two options for escape: prepare to be disconnected from your home or bring a satellite internet connection.

I'm unable to afford a Sat phone. It is way too expensive, especially for Internet access. I'll prepare a video and audio library for my next journey without Internet. The last time I checked, I had two tracks. But, they were both accidentally downloaded way back when, so I was limited in my choices of music to three jazz tracks and one with a name that I didn't recognize. That's it. 4 songs for two weeks of absolute nothingness. If I had known that this was the case I would have planned. I would have packed my laptop with television shows movies, music videos as well as audio files with music and podcasts. I would spend countless hours listening to my favourite podcasts. It's simple to download podcasts, convert them to MP3 and save them on my computer. After that, I can sit in my bedroom and listen to whatever I want to hear at home but don't have time to. flvto converter It was supposed to be my golden hour, or two weeks of gold. It ended up being two weeks of looking at the ceiling and running for passengers whenever the sound of a whirring in the corridors.

The trip was empty, both literally and figuratively.. I've never been this bored. I knew the problem was going to be caused by the thick ice, and so the boat was forced to turn around and be pulled back to civilization. This was not a surprise, but again endless hours of idle time could have been spent beneficially watching podcasts, listening to videos on fixing home problems, and simply listening to music. The next time, I'll convert YouTube videos to MP4 or mp3 formats on my laptop. This way, I can carry my most loved tunes around with me and stream them through my laptop. Music is never going to make you feel sad. Keep in mind that Netflix and Hulu apps allow you to download movies and shows on your computer to watch offline. They can also be carried for long journeys across the arctic. But don't lose heart. Best of luck!
