— Die Küchengeräte : peralatan dapur
— Selain mengenal nama-nama peralatan masak ini, kita juga bisa belajar mengenai komposita atau kata gabung. Dalam bahasa Jerman kita akan menemukan banyak kata gabung, biasanya terdiri dari dua kata, tetapi bukan tidak mungkin akan menemukan komposita yang terdiri dari tiga, empat bahkan lima kata. Nama lain dari komposita adalah ("Zusammensetzung".)
— Pembentukan komposita bisa bermacam-macam, antara lain:
1. verben (kata kerja) + Nomen (kata benda)
das Hackbrett = talenan
berasal dari kata kerja 'hacken" (mencincang) dan kata benda 'das Brett' (papan)
Pola yang sama adalah das Hackmesser.
2. Kata benda + kata benda
der Flaschenöffner = pembuka botol
berasal dari kata benda 'die Flasche' (botol) dan kata benda 'der Öffner" (pembuka atau alat untuk membuka)
Pola yang sama adalah der Holzlöffel.
— Karena komposita membentuk kata benda baru, maka kata benda tersebut harus memiliki artikel (der, die atau das). Artikel yang digunakan adalah artikel benda yang leyang letaknya paling akhir. Dalam mengartikan komposita dari bahasa Jerman ke dalam bahasa Indonesia membacanya dengan cara mundur.
Misalnya 'das Hackmesser' yaitu pisau cincang atau pisau yang digunakan untuk mencincang.
— Bila ditanya apakah anda seorang murid? Jawabnya adalah
"Ich bin schuller"
(Saya adalah seorang murid.)
