The History of Stalinist Architecture
Stalinist architecture, commonly called Stalinist architecture or Socialist-realism architecture, was the style of the Soviet Union during the period of Josef Stalin's rule from 1933 until 1955. This style was used by Stalin to divide the country into distinct areas to ensure his dominance. This type of architecture centers on the idea of highlighting the weighty bricks and concrete structures. Stalinist architecture The principal elements of the structure comprise concrete, metalwork and bricks. Concrete is a monomer in some instances, while metalwork may include elements that are welded like ironwork.

Stalinist architecture started in early 1950s, when the construction of the Moscow metro was begun by the communist party, which later became the USSR government. The main objective was to build the city as quickly as possible so as to finish the construction within the time frame specified by the Politburo. Mass construction was used to achieve this objective. To ensure that each building was built exactly as planned, a lot of planning was carried out behind the scenes.

Due to the size of the Soviet Union at the time, buildings were set up so that the smallest pieces could be produced first. This resulted in architecture that featured details such as small doors, window frames, and plaques. The exterior and staircases of the houses were nearly identical to those in the rest of the empire. The most striking aspect of Stalinist architecture was its heavy use of brick.

The style of architecture began to influence other countries, such as the USA, UK, and Canada. The beauty of Stalinist architecture was immediately appreciated by the West. It received praises for its distinctiveness, artistic style and artistic merit. Certain Russian writers have claimed to be influenced by Russian Stalinist architecture. Socialist classicism developed from its inception into a new design that isn't based on the starshan style.

Stalin's plans for Soviet architecture was first revealed in the month of May 1928, when Stalin declared his new state. Famous architects designed numerous structures and monuments to the new state from the beginning. A large portion of these structures include the Moscow Cathedral and Tomsk, which is the capital of RSFS. Archangel is Russia's largest church. Borsso (the Theater) and other important ones are also included. These structures were not built for ornamentation, but were constructed with precision and durability that only an experienced architect could achieve. These are all examples of Stalinist architecture.

There are many similarities between the early 20th century western classical architecture as well as Soviet architecture. Both styles feature the use of mass production techniques and complex designs. But the similarities end there. Both of these buildings were built to create the concept of a "total building" that would function as a symbol for an entire state or the Soviet Union.

Contrary to Stalinist architecture, which is focused on large structures, the majority of Russian architecture is nowadays small and made of concrete or other stone materials. The reason for this is that mass production has reduced the need for huge buildings, thus decreasing their dimensions and costs. This enables contemporary Russian architects to concentrate more on the specifics of each building.

Some examples of Stalinist architecture include balustrade and archways of various types. Some examples of built in apartments are stucco buildings arches, domes and other structures. Metro stations, train stations, bridges and some hotels in Moscow are examples of staled buildings. They are larger than other kinds of constructions and have more detailed architecture than the usual constructions.
