The history of Stalinist Architecture
The Stalinist architecture, also referred to as Stalinist architecture or Socialist-realism Architecture, was the Soviet Union's architecture during the time of Josef Stalin's rule between 1933 until 1955. This style was used by Stalin to divide the country into distinct regions to ensure his control. This style of architecture focuses on the use of heavy concrete and bricks structures. The building is made up of the principal elements of concrete, metalwork and bricks. In certain instances concrete is monomerized whereas metalwork consists of various weldable elements, like ironwork.

Stalinist architecture started in early 1950s, when the construction of the Moscow metro was begun by the communist party which later became the USSR government. The Politburo established a time frame to finish the construction of the city. Mass construction was used to achieve this objective. To ensure that every construction site was constructed according to the plan much of the planning was done in the background.

Because of the size of the Soviet Union at that time the construction sites were arranged in a manner that the smallest components were manufactured first. As a result, the design included elements such as the smallest door windows, frames for windows and plaques. The exterior and staircases of the houses were almost identical to those in the rest of the empire. The most striking feature of Stalinist architecture was its extensive use of brick.

The style of architecture began to influence other countries including the western nations like USA, UK and Canada. The beauty of Stalinist architecture was immediately admired by the West. It received praises for its uniqueness, artistic style and artistic merit. Certain Russian authors have even considered themselves as writers also influenced by Russian Stalinist architecture. Socialist classicism developed from its beginnings into a modern design that isn't based on starshan style.

Stalin's plans for Soviet architecture began in the month of May 1928, when Stalin declared his new state. Famous architects designed many structures and monuments for the new state right from the beginning. A large portion of these structures include the Moscow Cathedral and Tomsk, which is the capital of RSFS. Archangel is Russia's largest church. tonsilparchitect Borsso (the Theater), and other important ones are also included. These buildings were not made to be adorned, but they were constructed with a high degree of precision and durability that only an experienced architect could accomplish. These are all examples of Stalinist architecture.

A lot of similarities can be seen between early 20th century western classical architecture and early Soviet architecture. Both of these styles incorporate the use of mass production techniques and intricate designs. But the similarities end there. Both of these structures were designed to create a "total building", which would serve as a symbol of the state of the nation or the Soviet Union.

Contrary to the style of Stalinist architecture which concentrates on huge structures, the majority of buildings in today's Russian architecture are usually small and usually made of concrete or stone materials. This is because mass production has reduced the need for large structures, which has reduced their cost and size. This allows Russian architects to concentrate more on the details of each construction.

Balustrades and arch are two examples of Stalinist architecture. Some examples of built in apartments include stucco buildings, arches and dome type structures. Metro stations, train stations, bridges and some hotels in Moscow are examples of staled structures. They are larger than other constructions and have more detailed architecture than the usual constructions.
