A lot of people prefer to cook their potatoes on a windowsill or on the kitchen counter top so that they can easily peel them to serve. While this method is very convenient, it has a down side--a burned, desiccated end result. There is much better and more effective way of how to reheat mashed potatoes. The microwave is generally the best way to go if you want to re-heat a big batch of potatoes and the procedure is fairly simple provided that you follow these few simple steps and stay away from high heat. Simply pull the cold potatoes from the refrigerator and leave them in room temperature until you're ready to heat them up. Just be sure not to leave them in the microwave for more than ten seconds or the chips will become crisp and brittle.
Once they're ready you just need to place them on a hot plate or on a sauce pan in the microwave and cook for about two minutes until they are lightly browned all over. If your potatoes are too brown to get rid of all the moisture you may need to add about a quarter cup of water to every five cups of potatoes before you start cooking. It's really not difficult to stir a good meal in the microwave. Just start with a few tablespoons of butter or margarine and swirl in the flour. Then add the milk and turn the microwave on and just let it cook on the signal provided. You should have a perfectly cooked and thoroughly mashed potato in less than sixty seconds.
How to reheat fried chicken is a bit different but the technique is basically the same. All you have to do is melt some butter and season with salt and pepper to your taste. Then cut the piece of chicken into quarters or thin slices and lay them on a single layer of aluminum foil in the pre-heated oven or you can use a cast iron skillet that has already been placed in the oven on top of a hot burner. Just allow the pieces of chicken to cook until they are golden brown on one side and done on the other. If you find that your pieces of chicken are still a bit raw on both sides you can continue to cook them in the oven until they are well browned on both sides.
If you are interested in learning how to reheat mashed potatoes you can place the same fresh potatoes that you would have used for the original recipe into the microwave and allow them to come to room temperature before using them for baking. Once they are cool enough you can begin baking them as normal. The good thing about microwaving potatoes is that the nutrients remain intact within the vegetable because they are heated so rapidly. The reason they do not retain much of their nutrients is because the cell walls of the vegetable are damaged during the cooking process. When you bake in the oven, the cell walls are damaged because they are exposed to the air.
In order to learn how to microwave-safe bowl, first find a good microwave-safe bowl from your grocery store or a restaurant supply store. It is important to use a microwave bowl that is large enough to hold the mashed potatoes. You can purchase one minute ovens, ten minute ovens and twenty minute ovens, but you will need one minute for a small piece of vegetables. You should also use a microwave that has a minimum heat level of around 250 degrees. These low and moderate heat settings can be used for all types of foods such as potatoes, rice, eggs, breads and crackers.
Once you have found a good bowl you can place your one minute microwave-safe potato in the center of your oven or on your stove top and turn it on. It is recommended to always start the timer when the vegetables are still a bit cold so they will not take too long to cook. Once the timer has started it will take around ten to twelve minutes to complete one meal. Once the timer is complete, simply remove the frozen mashed potatoes from their package and place them in your blender or food processor, add some water and heat up your microwave for a few seconds until hot and ready to use.
