This statement ponders the idea of whether it is commonplace for people to disregard problems they would prefer not to solve. The core of this concept could come down to the selfish prioritisation of personal beliefs or wants of an individual over facts.. However, I wish to dispute this thread of the argument - that many humans would not disregard facts in order to avoid the solutions to problems. If we take social media, for example: many people would agree that the use of social media positively correlates with the incidence of mental health issues, particularly in teens. Yet, it is a rarity to come across someone who does not utilise these platforms in the modern age we live in, which would appear as an obvious solution to these problems. This, however, does not mean to say that the majority of these social media users would prefer to deny the existence of the problems that are tied with social media use. In fact, many of us happily accept their negative implications, regardless of how much we would prefer not to undergo a social-media-detox.

I would nevertheless agree with the statement that in many situations ignorance of the facts can be a commmon trend in society. To illustratre, an integral part of the framework of our society is the spreading of information via the news. Large numbers of people will watch the news in order to be alleviated of their ignorance in worldwide situations, oftentimes learning about subjects that they would prefer not to solve. Take the climate crisis, a worldwide issue that is reliant on the help of developed countries to solve. Climate change deniers is a term for the communities of people who dispute the scientific facts of climate change to favour a conspiratory viewpoint perhaps due to the fact they wish to continue, unchanging, with their lifestyles rather than adapt and help save the environment.
