Neo-Gothic Architecture
Neo-Gothic architecture was a building movement that began in the late 17th Century in England. The movement gained momentum and increased academic interest towards the end of 19th century. More serious neo-Goths tried to restore the archaic Gothic architecture in contrast to the romantically romantic, modernist styles that were prevalent at the time. These "Goths" were mostly male, whose inclination lay in the decorative arts, specifically in metalworks and architecture. While there was some opposition to this new architectural style among female Goths They tended to adhere to more traditional architectural forms however, with the exception of cathedrals which tend to preserve the majority of their Gothic tradition. The Gothic revival architecture grew to incorporate numerous natural elements, including glass, stone, wood, and iron wrought. They incorporated elements of Greek, Latin, and French architecture, while retaining the Neoclassicism and Gothic revivalism characteristics.

The most distinctive characteristic of neoGothic architecture can be seen in its massive scale. This is in stark contrast to the smaller, private villas and castles that were popular in the middle times. Neo-Gothic structures are generally larger than their earlier counterparts however there is one exception - the arched entrance of the Catacombs of Kom ashras (the Old Catacombs that date back to Roman times). They are often characterized by large gables with pointed arches, massive stone vaults, and massive gables. These vaults are used to display relics, or other reminders of nobles and former leaders of the city. These Gothic cathedrals stand out from the Gothic revival architecture of Middle Ages.

Gothic architecture is characterised by a mix of Gothic elements and influences. One of the most notable examples of this is the use of arches. This architectural style is notable for its arches, also known by arched roofs. In reality, a renowned structure in Manchester is known as the Cathedral of St John the Baptist is a structure with an arched roof. The use of arches in Neo-Gothic architecture are not something that is new. Despite their widespread use in other architectural styles, arches are still used in a limited amount in Neo-Gothic architecture.

Neo Goths did not have many arches, in contrast to their Gothic predecessors. Instead, they employed simple solid concrete pillars to support the roof of the building. This was less reliant on arches, but it was very effective, especially in keeping the architectural splendor. tonsilp Stucco was preferred by Neo-Goths over limestone or marble as the underlying material to their structures. In fact stucco was the original basis for the Grand Palace of Acapulco in Mexico located just a few hundred meters above the sea level.

A lot of churches are also part of Neo-Gothic architecture. Some of the finest examples can be located in the German city of Dresden, where a number of Gothic cathedrals were constructed during the time of the Weimar Republic. Most of these churches were destroyed, and the reconstruction of them has become a top priority for Dresden artisans. You can also find impressive neo Gothic structures in Washington D.C. and Liverpool.

Another significant characteristic of Neo-Gothic architecture is its reliance on dark, morbid colours, such as those found in Gothic paintings. The colors are selected to create the Gothic revival look that is an eerie, dark and brooding setting that is populated by many figures, some of whom are horribly distorted androgynous. These creatures are often depicted in violent settings that suggest a sense of despair and chaos. They look more like chained monsters than human beings.

This darkness is also reflected in the architecture that owes a great deal to the architectural styles employed by the Victorians and the architectural designs documented by Sir Peterloo in the 18th century. One of the most striking aspects of the neogothic architectural style is the prevalence of of glass in several of the buildings. In fact this was one of the driving factors behind the introduction of the carbonated drink pop, whose label was even later adopted by the neo-goths themselves. Another common feature of many neoGoth homes is heavy lacquered wooden and red brick. Reading and Birmingham are two examples of such homes.

Neo-Gothic architecture has, over the years become a collection of other interesting features. One of these is the University of Reading's impressive new structure, The Singing Cathedral. Built on the site of an earlier church, it constitutes a striking Gothic revival building that combines the characteristics of several architectural styles. Its design features a number of impressive iron sculptures, including bell-shaped spires and columns as well as a number of distinctive statues, including the Moravian King and Moravian Queen, as well as a gargantuan stained-glass dome.
