A Short Review of Neo-Gothic Architecture
Neo-Gothic architecture was an architectural design movement that began in the late 17th century. The movement developed and grew during the period of the French Revolution, as more knowledgeable and serious admirers of the ancient Gothic styles sought to revive the traditional Gothic architecture, as opposed to the fashionable neo-classical designs that were prevalent during the time. The French Revolution and all its implications influenced the architectural style. Gothic architecture concentrates its attention on images from antiquated Greek and Roman civilisations, especially on ruins of classical architecture. This style was distinguished by steeply pitched roofs constructed of stone and usually constructed from clay.
