Are you planning a trip far from home? Make sure to pack digital media in case WiFi goes down
Let me tell you about a trip I took last year aboard a cruise ship through the Arctic. It sounded great, National Geographic trip thru the ice and back with polar bears and numerous other wildlife. There would be ice everywhere eyes could see , and snow all around. ytmp3 Machines made by humans would have to fight the elements in order to make it through the frigid north. It sounded incredible, like fighting a huge fight against the weather north and pole.

I was advised to carry the maximum amount of technology I could in my suitcases. I did manage to pack my laptop, as well as an enormous screen to extend my workspace. As they said, electricity was no problem. It was going to be a challenging task, but I didn't know what to anticipate. Two days into my 14-day trip I didn't know of the fact that my Internet connection would cease to function and that I would disappear for the remainder of 10 days. I was devastated when it happened. Every trip should not, however challenging or remote, cause me to be disconnected from my computer. Not only am I not able to finish my business, but I was also not prepared for it.

These days nobody really cares about having to go offline. Internet is accessible wherever you are. If your connection at home goes down and you are unable to connect, there is always a McDonalds near by and take advantage of their complimentary WiFi to access what you need. You can even bring laptops and settle in the cafe at Starbucks for the duration of time and sit at a table and just surf the Internet to your heart's desire. There is no restaurant or cafe to help you up north. There are hours away from the closest generator that produces electricity. There's no free Internet accessible. Two alternatives are available in these situations: switch off the internet and bring your satellite connection.

I am unable to afford a satellite phone. It's just too costly, particularly to use it for Internet access. When I venture out into the unknown, I will have an extensive audio and video library. The last time I was online, I only had 2 songs. The songs were downloaded back at the time, so all I had to listen to were three jazz tracks and one song I couldn't remember what it was called. That's it. 4 tunes for two weeks of no-thingness. If I had known this would be the scenario, I would have prepared. I would have filled my laptop with TV shows, movies and bunch of music videos, and also audio files that contained songs and podcasts. I would spend hours listening to my favourite podcasts. It's simple to download them, then convert them into mp3 and save them on my laptop. Then I could lie in my room listening all the things I like at home, but not have the time. This would be my "golden hour" or two weeks of gold. Instead, it was 2 weeks of watching the ceiling and trying to find passengers every whenever there's a noise in the corridors.

The trip was empty literally and metaphorically. I've never felt so bored. The ice was too thick. Knowing that it could create problems The boat was forced to tow back to civilization. While this was not unexpected however, there were plenty of other alternatives. Hours and hours of downtime could be spent listening to podcasts and DIY videos on fixing issues at home, or listening music. Next time, I will convert YouTube videos from mp4 to MP3 format using my laptop. Bring these along to listen to your favourite music right on your laptop. Music is never going to make you feel depressed. Hulu and Netflix apps are able to download shows and movies offline. It is also possible to bring them with you for your long trip across the Arctic. yt to mp3 Don't let boredom get you down. Have fun!
