Romanesque Architecture
Romanesque architecture is an architectural style prevalent in western Europe between the middle-11th and the beginning of Gothic architecture. A fusion of ancient Roman, German, and Eastern Roman, it was also an outcome of the rise of asceticism during the early 10th century. The Romanesque period architecture was characterized by the use of heavy flat roofs on structures.


Romanesque architecture has its roots in Italy. Although most structures are built with arches, there are roofs that have pointed arches and tiling. Gothic architecture uses natural materials such as wood, stone, metal and marble most of the time.

Romanesque architecture has a distinctive characteristic archways. Arches were initially used to support columns, and to embellish walls. As the style evolved the use of arches became more important to support staircases and provide visual interest to buildings. It is unclear whether Romans were inspired from designs of other civilisations, such as Egypt or the Parthians. It was home to numerous structures such as guardhouses and barns as well as churches, granaries, and granaries. The construction of these structures included arches, which were constructed together with windows and doors. Scutels were used to provide shelter and embellish the buildings, hence the term "scutelage".

Romanesque architecture's most notable feature is the use of arches. Romanesque design has influenced much of the architecture that was used in Europe and the United States during the last two centuries. This style has not had much influence on Indian buildings or other aspects of public life. These palaces, huts and temples, and other structures were not influenced by Romanesque architecture. In the end, the Indian Romanesque tradition has been left to the fringes, with many of its intricate details and artistic flourishes being lost in the mists and mists of time.
