The Drug King - A Movie Review
The Drug King isn’t a flop in any way. It's actually one of the most popular South Korean movies. It's an epic tale of a man who rules the small nation called the Republic of Korea, and is also a powerful leader amongst his people. Under all the pomp and splendor, Kim Sung Hoo finds himself in love with a woman called Jeong-Ho. Together, they want to bring peace to Seoul, the capital city of Seoul, to their new home. Jeong-Ho is accused by the authorities of selling drugs for the Republic of Korea's undercover police officer in charge of narcotics.

The film begins in the 1960s as Korea opens itself to the outside world. The government encourages its people to travel abroad, and the number of travelers is increasing. Doo-sam is a South Korean teenager who becomes involved in the trade of drugs, is one of these visitors. They form a bond and Doo-sam is a more valuable partner to the drug kingpin.

Directed by Shimit Amin, the film follows Doo-sam's life as he confronts the difficulties that are associated with running a flourishing drug empire. Amin creates a convincing character through his quiet but deadly presence that is respected. Kim Heo-Jung is even one of the characters, Park Tae-Soo, who is a Korean-American reporter for a U.S. news network, and is integral to the plot of the film.

Park Tae-Soo is an interesting character whose loyalties are split between his desire for the Republic of Korea's corruption to be exposed and his desire to protect his daughter. He wants to safeguard Doo SAM's wife and children However, he also desires to secure the security of the street children whom he helps every day. The film is about the relationship between Doo SAM and Kim Heo-Jung who is the ultimate Gangsta. Both men want the same thing but their different views prevent them from working together. The movie is a mix of comedy and action, as the two men thwart various police efforts to arrest them.

Sang Doo Ri, a Korean film that is part of the same movie franchise, is another one worth your time. The film focuses on the life and times of a drug lord, who tries to bring order and create a dynasty while ruling over a nation. Doo-Ri is based on the true story of Won-Heo-Koo. The film begins with him guiding his daughter, Ki-Soo, into college where she is studying to become nurse. Her father discovers her death shortly thereafter and sets out to capture the drug lord who was responsible.

Park Hae-Chul also directed four films. These films are worth a look if you look for great Korean movies that aren't about the drug trade is over. Overall, The Drug King makes an excellent film that a lot of people love. The acting is excellent, even though the story is a bit absurd at times. The music sequence of the film that features the dancing North Korean girls is as adorable and captivating as ever. It also features some stunning cinematography. The overall effect puts the viewer in the midst of a fantastic and entertaining film. Although The Drug King doesn't quite attain the same heights as its predecessor, DooRan is a great entertainment diversion for the public.
