+Shielded Metal Arc Welding - also known as stick electrode welding
-pinaka kilala at pinakamurang welding
-isang uri ng Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA)
-116, 108 diameter, shielded welding rod(HARDWARE)/ electrode (SMAW)
~Welding involves creating/striking arc using SMAW
-para makapag create ng arc need a specific gap from the tip of electrode and base metal
-not too long or not too short
-if hindi mo inangat hindi makakapag create ng arc

+SMAW/MMAW/STICK WELDING-manual process na gumagamit ng consumable electrode covered with flux
-nauubos ang electrode hanggang 1 cm na napupunta dun sa winewelding
-Smaw Applications: Pwede gamitin sa labas or outside
- usually/ only applicable on the use of mild steels, stainless steels, cast irons
-hindi pwede isagad ang welding rod/ electrode
+Advantage of SMAW
-lower equipment cost
-quick change of material
-pwede gamitin in confined spaces(tank)/ pwede gamitin in any position(vertical, flat, overhead)
-mas mabilis matunaw
-easy to move from one location to another
-special electrodes can use for cutting/ gouging

+Disadvantages of SMAW
-mas mababa ang deposition rate(yung rate ng pagtunaw)
~kung mbaba ang deposition rate mababa rin/ babagal ang production
-filler metal cost per weld
-mababa ang production factor, kasi sa smaw pag maubos na ang electrode kelangan mo mag palit
~nakakababa ng production rate
~needed a constant training
-need more eye coordination
-slag must be removed in GMAW/GTAW

+Equipments used in SMAW
1.) Static Power Source(Welding Machine)
-main source of electricity
-convert power from utility line to power needed from welding
-provides either AC only, DC only or AC and DC supply
A.) Transformer Type
-needed to connect in circuit breaker hindi lang basta sa 'sasakan'
-reduces voltage/ bumababa yung arc voltage up to 30 volts
-produces AC current only
B.) Rectifier type(Elector Knob)
-input AC to DC
-had an option to chooses between AC to DC
- base on the electrode used
`Ac susundan lang yung markings
C.) Electric Type- an inverter
-smaller transformer
-increase in frequency
- needed 4 to 5 para buhatin(school)

~DUEN- Direct Current Electron Negative / DCSP- straight polarity
~DCEP- Direct Current Electron Positive / DCRP- reverse polarity

D.) Engine-Driven Power Sources (Motor Generator)
- needed a fuel supply
- usually DC ONLY

+Welding Machine Ratings
-size according to their current at voltage output to their current
~150A to 200 A- light to medium- duty welding
~250A to 300 A- Average welding requirement (SCHOOL HAD)
~400A to 600 A- Large- capacity, heavy- duty welding

+DUTY CYCLE
-percentage of time during a specified period that it won't overheat
-10 period expresses the actual operation time(nakaset sa pinakamataas na output current)
~ if it won't overheat within 10 minutes ibig sabihin mataas ang duty cycle
~ if it overheat within 10 minutes ibig sabihin ay mababa ang duty cycle

~should know the welding time and resting time of your welding machine so it can live longer

2.) Cable
-Welding cable had many size, the bigger the company the bigger the more cable it had
-Hindi bumaba o lumiit ang cable
3.)Electro Holder
-nakakabit yung cable
-the other terminal nakaconnect sa terminal ng welding machine
4.) Ground Clamp
-

2.)STUD TYPE WELDING MACHINE
-nakabase sa ampere ang welding process(50-600 amperes)
-if the metal get hot, you need to lower the ampere
