who was matthew henson you might ask? matthew henson was an accomplished african american , he was an artic explorer . he was born on august 8th 1866 and died at age 88 on march 9 1955. born in Charles County Maryland
matthew was young african american raised by his uncle ever since he became an orphin and his parents passed awayat age 11 .
Matthew heson was one of the first people to reach the north pole w/ his partner robert pearly . him and his partner reached the north pole on april 6 1909 dont think it was easy though , they made multiple attempts to reach the north pole . matthew henson is remembered as a truly remarkable man. In 1996 an oceanographic survey ship called USNS Henson in hensons honor . he also got awarded the hubbard medal for reasearch, discovery, and exploration
