North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

It was taken to a safer location to be fully cleaned after it was guided into the bucket and guided out.

WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.

When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.

On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

The North Carolina capital is Raleigh. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.

Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.

The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

On Tuesday, police searched the same home after receiving a 911 call there.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.

It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.

The snake in question was found laying out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra had been reported missing.

A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.

There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.

According to Locke, this snake is not suitable for keeping as a pet.

Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Bite victims could be plagued with health problems for years, studies show.

Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.

This home was visited four times by police during the month of March. On Monday and Tuesday, they returned after spotting the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.

The county records indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at this address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords shows several photos of snakes, which he identifies as being his son's, Christopher.

His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. He claims to have a zebra cobra seven feet long on one of his posts.
