Learn How To Malding Exactly Like Lady Gaga
few weeks ago they asked for me to compose an essay on one of the paintings by Hopper, the Nighthawks, and I, as an experienced researcher, was able to inform me. Because it is known or at the very least, taught by experience, in order to appreciate a painting it is necessary to know the history of the painting, the author and most importantly the setting in the which it was painted. Art is certainly something universal, transcendent to the space and time, and therefore is recognizable after many centuries. The meanings are subject to change as society and the world evolve, and what previously could be seen clearly, possibly years after, is not as obvious. What was unthinkable before now could be revealing our work in a different manner.

Re-meaning a work through time
It's a little like the scene I see when you look at Hopper's " Nighthawks" which was closed by the bar late in the evening, and in the window that resembles an aquarium, from the location of the characters that are observed.

I believe that , in this work, Hopper wanted to give space for the viewer to allow him to observe the silent, detailed and calm scene presented to us by the night.

The space, designed to be a place for active viewing may be the most important element, which allows the painting to change throughout time and, consequently, to remain timeless, indestructible, modern, even very contemporary.

The painting, made in 1942, is not immediately attributable to an exact date, but it seems that its dating is changeable according to the changes in the viewer, according to the exact time at the period in which the work is viewed.

I believe this is what is essential to reading, the time and space occupied by the observer that Hopper wanted to create.

I'll explain.

Researching information and news on Hopper's " Nighthawks" I was able to observe how many describe it , highlighting the following elements:

"[...] the loneliness, the sense of emptyness of an environment whose glistening patina is beginning to fade. [...] The distinctively commercial essence, the false myths take off their masks and show an unrealized reality, devoid of valid points of reference in the face of uncertainty and a lack of morality. "

Night and transformation

I believe this interpretation is not complete, that is, it's a interpretation provided in the context of society as well as by the dating that is attributed to the work: the United States between the 40s and 50s during the economic boom that redefined social and cultural assets in the lives of the people, a society that is even a bit bourgeois, in which nightclubs are seen as places of loneliness, despair and existential emptiness.

This is somewhat true and slightly not.

The first time I came across this painting, without having studied it, it gave me lots of peace and joy, thanks to its bright contrast and quiet nocturnal quality.

Maybe, coming from a large busy and noisy city, night is one of the times when I can experience the city with more peace with fewer people in the area more cars and less noise, more open spaces to appropriate, which place to rest under the starless urban sky. The night is a different meaning for me from those who frequented bars in The United States during the 40s as the sun's path down, the city transforms its appearance, and streets become more open and easy.

We must not forget how society has changed over the course of more than half a century of social and cultural changes. This is the case that occurred between Pop and Rock culture, between psychoedelic movement in the 1990s and 2000s.

As malding meaning of the 90s, I was also a night-time kid and by "growing up" I am referring to everything "formative" experiences that the night brought me. It is for me common to be out in the evening, often walking through the neighborhood on weekends, searching for the most memorable nightclub, dancing till dawn and riding around on a motorbike or driving around in search of the last bar open you can grab a bread or hot pizza or hot pizza, and then where to sip the last glass of wine and light the last cigarette before dawn was set. From the 80s and afterward, the night no longer from frightening those who stayed home (let's take a look at the jazz movement, anti-prohibitionism and the notorious Cursed Poets who were all great evening owls) and it has become the place where the majority of people of the world find tranquility and security of the other nighthawks.

Hopper's modern realism
Today, Hopper's painting is reminiscent of many scenes of real modern life. It makes me feel happy and, in all likelihood, sympathize with the last three characters who engage in an exchange of words while the bartender is cleaning the bar to end the day and then open another. People who are nocturnal seek peace in the solitude of their nightly companions. They reflect on their lives by watching them through a glass . They meet as a tribe in the night, accepting everyone and judging no one. It's not a coincidence that in the oldest civilisations, such as the Indian one that the time between midnight and dawn is called Brahmamuhurta which is also known as the time of Brahma which is the ideal moment to commit yourself to prayer, meditation studying, and contemplation. In this space of time the energies are more acute, intense but of tranquil, spiritual intensity.

I see no solitude or empty space in Hopper's painting. I also found it among the gentrified streets of the night quarters. This is because even the right-thinking people started going out in the evening.

So that, even malding and historic areas had to be turned into marketplaces for consumers as the spontaneous gatherings of people in the square were required to arrange themselves into lines, waiting for their turn while the sound of the drums along the side of the street was drowned out by the police sirens. This is what worries me today, that the night is desnatured by its sacred timeless atmosphere, by its being an occasion of aggregation for the lone wolves, and is now an additional uncovering tool of the system, requiring the highest level of professionalism and clarity even in the most secluded corners of the city.
