Choosing The Right Grease Gun
There is nothing that is as important in a repair or equipment maintenance business as an electric grease gun. A quality, fully-automated grease gun will not only save you money on labor, but will also save your customer and/or operator valuable time during their repair or service sessions. There are many types of grease guns that are available on the market today. It's a good idea to research a product before purchasing to ensure that it will work for you and/or your equipment. If you have any doubts about which one you should purchase, take a few minutes to read these Grease Gun Buyers Guide examples below.

High Pressure Lever Grease Gun - This is the most popular type of lever grease gun, because it is fully automatic with an automatic shut off feature. An air compressor is required, but this unit is small enough to fit into a tight space, making it easy to install. In addition to being easily installed, the high pressure makes this a great choice for repairing or maintaining a variety of bearing applications. To a shop mechanic, a high pressure lever grease gun s | be their best buddy saving them time, saving money and extending equipment life.

Air Bleeder Grease Gun - This type of grease gun comes in two varieties, the basic pistol style and the high pressure air Bleeder style. The basic model is typically smaller and more portable. However, the high pressure air Bleeder model is more robust and designed specifically for larger applications. With the high pressure version you can clean many more surfaces with one cartridge. The size and portability of the Air Bleeder makes this the choice of many mechanics and service technicians.

Cordless Grease Gun - Although most people choose to carry a cordless grease gun with them for quick jobs that require less maneuvering, there are times when a battery powered tool is needed, such as when installing a fan or an aquarium heater. When the power goes out and recharges the battery, many cordless tools will lose their power almost immediately, forcing users to plug their tool back in and wait for it to charge again. A cordless tool that is battery powered allows you to go ahead and recharge the battery while you continue working. Grease Gun Most batteries have a limited life span, so purchasing a battery powered tool is one good investment for your garage or shop.

Power Pressure Pump Gun - This type of grease gun utilizes a powerful motor to drive a large pump, which pumps both the oil and the grease through the gun and into the bearing. The pump is often very loud due to the large motor running throughout. This option is perfect for those who want the power and the noise of a motor, but don't want the added bulk of the air pressure tank or battery. These types of guns require a regular change of batteries, and the price will vary depending on the type of pump you purchase.

Grease Gun With No Battery - This option is similar to the electric grease gun above, except it doesn't require any electrical outlets. This is perfect for filling an airbrush, or in a truck's brake fluid reservoir. This eliminates the need to lug an airbrush around, and adds some convenience as well. There is no plug or electrical outlet required, and the electric models typically do not have a reciprocating action, which means there is no need to slow down the gun during use. This type of electric model is more expensive than the corded variety, and is generally only recommended for professional use and for guns that will run on electric power alone.

Battery Power Hose - Battery powered guns have an external power source, usually a small, plastic-based hose that attaches to the base of the tool and releases battery power to run the tool. This is great for inflating tires, or using nail guns without using an extension tool. The drawback to this type of gun is that the battery must be recharged regularly. The rechargeable battery is also bulky, making it unsuitable for use with many other tools.

Inflatable Nozzles - A flexible nozzled hose is used to inflate objects. The nozzle can either be a continuous flow unit, where a single nozzle pumps grease into the work surface at a predetermined pressure, or a pumping tube, where a series of nozzles pump grease into a larger work surface at a much higher pressure. Higher pressure can be achieved by increasing the length of the hose or decreasing the diameter of the internal nozzles.
