Stability vs experiments
Hi, my name is Boris and I'm the COO of Leanbe, a smart roadmap creation platform.
Today I'd like to talk about the constant struggle between stability and experiments. What do we long for? Which one is closer to our nature and how to make a shift from one approach to another considering the risks involved?
Life with a straight line [shown on screen]
Let's agree on one thing: stability is great. It ensures a certain rate of income, unexpected changes and shifts are not a possible obstacle and it keeps you on the road at all times, it keeps you where you are without the stress to fall behind.
Many of us take stability for granted and find comfort in it. It's a state of comfort-zone and is very beneficial when we have to take time to make decisions on sudden shifts in life such as a career change.
There is absolutely no drama in stability. For people of creative mind, it's a devastating process which kills off any new possibility, any potential opportunity, any minor revolution and inner rebellion.
Life as a zigzag [shown on screen]
On the other hand, none of us was born to be stuck at one point and be satisfied with whatever there is. There needs to be a process. We're ourselves a part of a process, an extensive evolution and we've naturally got used to the constant movement.
And trying has been proven to be the moving force of evolution, as it leads to change, to a hundred failures and, eventually a success. Greatest inventions are a result of sleepless nights and constant experiments.
Think science. Whatever we have in medicine, astronomy, physics, whatever we have accomplished, invented and discovered was due to hard work and experiments.
The same applies to everyday life, marketing and business. We all try to reach excellence in our spheres so that we can catch up and even beat our competitors. Each has their own way of doing things, but, after all, all we do is a huge experiment that will turn into a great source of result-oriented changes.
So my main advice to everyone watching this video is: cherish your comfort, but keep in mind, it doesn’t take you anywhere. Go forward and keep moving.
