Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.

An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.

brisbane snake catcher Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

Raleigh is a North Carolina city. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.

As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.

WRAL's cameras caught the snake the previous day crawling onto the porch of a house on Sandringham Drive. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.

After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.

Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.

She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. It feels as if I can now go outside and enjoy the scenery. The snake, though, must have felt bad.

A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.

The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.

An immediate reaction to the poison of a cobra is pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.

Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.

Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, since their venom hits straight for the eye since they are so accurate.

The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.

People tend to get bitten most often when they're sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.

Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.

In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. Following the zebra cobra's spotting on a porch a half mile away, they returned on Monday and Tuesday.

There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.

The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. He says he has a 7-foot-long zebra cobra on one of his posts.
