Laura is a highly motivated and extremely talented natural storyteller. Laura’s mind lives in a world of character stories. Starting at the age of four Laura began creating stories based on imaginary characters. At that time Laura’s stories revolved around the twenty or so toy automobile characters she had from the movie “Cars”. She would spend hours playing with her toy character cars.
I would come home from work to find twenty toy character cars from the movie “Cars” arranged in various formations throughout our family living room with Laura interacting with the various character cars. Though I did not realize it at that time, this was the beginning of Laura’s natural interest in character stories.
Later, when Laura was nine years-old we took a family vacation to Yosemite National Park. During that trip Laura wrote a well written, detailed description of our trip. It was then that I realized that Laura has a natural writing ability. She notices small details and is able to write in a manner that impacts the reader emotionally. This is a very rare talent among writers.
Laura also has the ability communicate through visual arts. She is exceptionally talented as an artist and can effectively communicate a character’s demeanor and emotional state through her art. The recognition she has received from HPHS for art achievement and from the All American High School Film Festival for her animation, “The Ox and the Squirrel” are professional recognition for her artistic and storytelling talents.
Laura’s motivation to learn and achieve has been demonstrated when she took four College enrichment programs during the summer between her sophomore and junior year of high school. Three college programs that summer where through the Rhode Island School of Art and Design which is considered one of the top art colleges in the United

States. Additionally, she took a summer enrichment course in screen writing through Loyala Marymount University which is considered to have one of the top college screen writing degree programs.
Laura followed this up by taking three CalArts summer enrichment courses between her junior and senior year. Each course required approximately fifteen hours of work per week. Laura’s drive to excel was so high she took these three courses and completely gave up her summer vacation in order to achieve a higher level of artistic skill.
Laura’s GPA is exceptional for a student who is motivated as an artist. Her high GPA reflects her high intelligence and motivation to achieve in whatever activity she is involved with.
Laura’s demonstrated artistic talent, intelligence and motivation are the foundation from which Laura will develop into a seasoned storyteller as a professional animator, director and writer. Whichever college Laura decides to attend will be fortunate to have her as a student and a future alumni.
