Ironically, cell phones, meant to enhance communication, could be worsening social skills. Texting friends is replacing seeing them in person. According to an article from the National Public Radio, seventy-five percent of children between the ages of twelve and seventeen now have cellular devices, and there has been an increase of forty-five percent since the year 2004. Thirty-one percent are sending out over one hundred texts a day.
It is without a doubt that technology does come with a few setbacks, but it is beyond clear that the pros certainly outweigh the cons. New technological innovations are being used globally as tools in classrooms to make learning more simple. Not only are cell phones, computers, and tablets improving classrooms, but they are also bettering the environment. An iPad is capable of holding several books, magazines, and documents, thus reducing the amount of paper, citizens use on a daily basis.

And while texting can be seen negatively, it is an extremely effective and convenient way of communication. Texting and facetime provides people the possibility to contact friends and family that live far away, those serving in the military, away on business trips, or simply those who they can not talk to in person.

As time progresses, change is bound to happen. Where would we be without the technology we have today? It is vital for the human race to continue to adapt and evolve, and constantly attempt to improve the quality of life. Yes, it is quite possible that today’s society is becoming too dependent on technology, but electronics are an undeniably important tool of everyday life. Without them, citizens would be stuck, not advancing and not expanding brilliant concepts and ideas.
