The Art Of International Style
The International Style is a popular architectural style that developed in the twenties/thirties. It was heavily in the influence of classical and modernist architecture. It was the result of numerous stylistic and artistic movements that were taking place in Europe during this time. Styles like Art Deco, Fauvism, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau, Viennese and Neoclassicism were influential in the development of International Style architecture. This style can be found in cities like Florence, Turin, Barcelona, Havana, Chicago, Prague, London, Cape Town, Florence, Leipsic, Cologne, Rome, Vienna, Bratislava, Clujarno, Barcelona, Tokyo, Saint Petersburg, Seoul, Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing and many others. Many examples of International Style urban architecture include flat roofs, skyscrapers and roofs that cantilever.

International Style architecture has many styles. There are, instead, many different styles and colors that are stylistically related, but which have been developed in a different way. For instance, there is the British style, which is inspired by Victorian styles, art Deco and buildings with large windows, rounded designs, and the use of dark materials. It was constructed over twenty-five years, in an unsuccessful attempt at solving the issue of how to construct an enormous and massive structure with only the existing materials. Even after his death his legacy lives on in the form of the cantilevered roofs which can still be seen throughout the globe.

A large number of modern architects have been influenced by the designs of Thomas Hitchcock. For instance, Frank Lloyd Wright took extreme care to replicate elements of Hitchcock's original style into his own structures. Many Frank Lloyd Wright homes and constructions are heavily inspired by the famous architect. The majority of homes and other structures constructed today employ certain features of the International Style.

Some important examples of the International architecture can be seen throughout the world. You can find the International style in the grand palaces of Turkey and Russia as well as houses and buildings in New York. There are landmarks in Paris that date back to the last decade of the 19th century.
