Review of The Brave and the Bold by Robin D. Grafton
DEATHLY DIGNITY is a powerful full-length, horror/thriller written by Meg LeFauge. This is a fast-moving, suspense-filled, romance/ thriller that's sure to get you hooked from cover to cover. It's set in a future world in which handsome humans are nothing of the sort. That is, they aren't humans at all, but instead alien creatures who look and act like humans. This is because they were transformed through an experimental process.

Lily came to earth because her hybrid blood was too powerful for earthlings to control. Now, she's working with the only other human on the planet to protect them and keep the peace in her home-work. As much as Lily wanted to go on a romantic vacation with her crush, her boss told her not to. And so, Lily gets herself injected with a deadly dream serum, a treatment that'll take her from ordinary to lethal overnight. With shocking visions of death stalking her and the mysterious assailant who wants to kill her, Lily must use every ounce of instinct, courage, and compassion she has to save herself and find out what she'll really become...

Aspiring to be a super hero, Lily makes a vow to find the man who killed her mom. In an effort to do this, she teams up with DC comics' brightest and most fascinating minds: Wonder Woman, The Ray, Aquaman, and The Martian Hunter. Together, they form the most dynamic, lovable, and creative couple in all of comics. When Lily discovers that she can transform herself into a lethal killing machine-in a fatal attempt to prove that prescient dreams can be true-she assembles an incredibly incredible and genius team of super heroes that will spell the end of crime...

Unfortunately, The Brave and the Bold is just a fairy tale, with a twist that readers would definitely recognize. In this highly successful standalone adventure, Lily meets The Riddler, who charms her with his brilliant speeches about truth and justice. Before long, he takes her on as his disciple, teaching her to embrace her destiny as a fearless leader of men. However, when she learns that his philosophy of not letting guilt make you fight to protect the innocent has been changed into an almost religious devotion to fighting villains, she discovers that her prescient dreams have proven invaluable.

Renowned crime fiction author Sue Grafton provides readers with another masterpiece-a tale of romance and crime set in Boston, Massachusetts during the tumultuous decade before the Revolutionary War. When Bostonians were caught in the middle of a bloody riot instigated by the revolutionary printer jailed for printing seditious materials, they barricaded the doors of their homes and businesses and refused to open them until the printer was released. Their bravery inspires the rest of their city in their fight against injustice and tyranny. As they help save Boston from the hands of the British, they are joined by other unlikely allies including an American doctor, a Spanish pirate captain, and an Irish terrorist.

This intelligent, romantic, suspense-filled, and timely novel is the perfect book to read if you are looking for a thrilling romance novel with a touch of real intrigue. It's a novel that could appeal to people of all ages because it's written in simple, understandable language. Romance buffs will enjoy reading about romance-tinged murder mysteries such as those in Grafton's The Brave and the Bold series. Young readers may enjoy this engaging series because it is written in first person point of view, which makes it all the more interesting to young readers.

Romance book fans will be pleased with The Brave and the Bold series because they will enjoy uncovering the intriguing details of historical events while at the same time solving a series of mystery and crime that is flavored with romance. Romance fans will also be pleased with Ms. Grafton's other historical romance novels, including her newest The Curious Case of Jean Mabillon and Need a Secret. In Need a Secret features modern day Boston police detective, Lee Brice, and his encounter with the notorious criminal, Richard Simms, who was a major suspect in the double murder of a woman and her boyfriend. The case proved complicated when Lee's own friend, Detective Chief Inspector Richard Banks, was suspected of being involved in the crime and brought into the case. Ms. Grafton's expertise on the police force and her ability to create sympathetic characters is shines through in this one.

In reviewing The Brave and the Bold, I found the story to be a romantic comedy, with an added dose of romance thrown in. The book is fast paced with excellent character development. The plot is not overly complicated, but it is easy to follow and the romance novel reviews seem to rave about this one.
