Twitch Terimleri
Hours Watched (HW)
The number of hours of video watched by viewers. Our primary goal number.

Concurrent viewers (CCV)
The number of simultaneous viewers watching a stream. Average CCV is equivalent to HW (100 CCV for 2 hours = 200 HW). Peak CCV is the primary determinant of scaling our video system. CCV and CCU are synonymous. (concurrent users)

Concurrent Streams (CCS)
Metric used by discovery to determine the # of concurrent streams in a given category or tag.

Five-minute play (FMP)
A video viewing session that lasts at least five minutes. Viewers who watch for at least five minutes are much more likely to retain into the future. Video plays shorter than five minutes are effectively "failed", so eliminating them clarifies how many times we successfully connect a viewer with a streamer.

Daily active viewers (DAV)
The number of unique viewers who achieve at least one FMP in a day. Highly engaged viewers who love Twitch generate the most DAV, coming back many times every month.

Born Active Viewer (BAV) - Born viewer that completes at least one five minute play
...

Monthly active viewers (MAV)
The number of unique viewers who achieve at least one FMP in a month. MAV is much more impacted than DAV by transient customers. Growing MAV grows the pool of viewers we can convert into regular DAV.

Established Bond
An Established Bond is created between a channel and a viewer when the viewer watches 5+ minutes of content on that channel on 5 or more days without a period of 28 consecutive inactive days.

Streamer Tiers 0-5
We have defined streamer tiers at Twitch that represent a streamer's journey from nobody to superstar, based on their average CCV.

Tier 0 streamers (0-2 CCV)
Tier 0 streamers tend to have short streaming sessions, few streams per month, and 50% monthly churn rates. Their biggest challenge is "how do I stream well?"

Tier 1 streamers (3-10 CCV)
Tier 1 streamers tend to have longer streaming sessions, more streams per month, and 30% monthly churn rates. Their biggest challenge is "how do I find an audience?"

Tier 2 streamers (11-100 CCV)
Tier 2 streamers generally have long stream sessions, many streams per month, and 15% monthly churn rates. Their biggest challenge is "how do I grow my audience?". We consider "T2+ streamers" an important category because hours broadcast per month starts to plateau above 25 CCV.

Tier 3 streamers (101-4000 CCV)
Tier 3 streamers generally have very long stream sessions, stream daily, and 12% monthly churn rates. Their biggest challenge is "how do I make enough money to go full time?"

Tier 4 streamers (4000+ CCV)
Tier 4 streamers are almost always full-time, stream constantly, and have 12% monthly churn rates. Their biggest challenge is "how do I maximize my earnings?"

Partners
Streamer whose partnership application was approved upon reaching the following milestones in a 30 day period: stream for 25 hours, 12 unique days, and have 75 average viewers. Once a streamer becomes a partner, they usually do not lose Partner status. Larger partners get white glove treatment from our partnership/GTB teams.

Affiliates
Streamers who reach the following milestones in a 30 day period: stream for 8 hours, 7 unique days, and have 3 average viewers and 50 followers. Once a streamer becomes an affiliate, they usually do not lose Affiliate status. Affiliates can start earning income on Twitch through subs, bits, and other channels.

Raiding / Hosting
Tools we have built to allow streamers to send their viewers to other streamers at the end of their session or when they are offline.

Premium
Any channel that broadcasts content that (a) is listed in the Always On directory on Twitch.com, (b) is or was produced for television, cinema, or SVOD, or (c) is a direct representation of professional sports with salaried players, inclusive of esports.

UGC ("user-generated content")
