Secret Wars - New Avengers
The Avengers are a famous fictional group of super-heroes that are featured in a majority of American comic books released by Marvel Comics. The Avengers were created by scientist Dr. Norman Osborn, who invented the Ionization Shield, a force field similar to that of the Iron Shield of the Iron Man suit that was able to neutralize directed radiation (from an explosion in a car or any other source) and left nothing to the imagination. The peacekeeping International Rescue Organization charter included the Avengers.

The Avengers featured prominently in many storylines over the years, including the iconic series of sixties called the Avengers: The Ultimate Collection. Although the first Avengers did not include any superhuman members but their rosters grew to include such notable names as Hawkeye, Rocket, Wasp, Ghost Rider, Antman and the Vision. Although many of these characters have their solo adventures, many of them also became members of the Avengers in various series, like the classic Secret Wars, or were prominently featured as lead characters of the ongoing series with the same name. The most well-known addition to the series was the Vision which was introduced into the main series in Secret Wars. The Vision was an ex Nazi scientists developed the Vision, an extremely and telepathic android. The most notable feature of the Vision is the ability to send thought-to-assemblies out to other Avengers. This is a constant reminder that his previous owner, the Nazi scientists who experimented with him and then destroyed the Manhattan Island where he worked.


The Avengers: New Avengers series introduces the Vision, one of the founding members. The comic book story focused on the Wakandan hero fighting against the renegade X-Men. The story concluded with the team focused on protecting New York City from villains that are aligned with Magneto. The New Avengers series featured several key characters from the Secret Wars storyline, including Layla Miller (Sophie Franklin), Sam Raimi (overseer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and Bokeelia Nimai(Adrianne Medina). It is interesting to note that, despite featuring a variety of key characters from Secret Wars, none of them were made known as part of the story at that time. Some have wondered if this was a strategy to promote by Disney to attract old Marvel readers.

The film with Robert Downey Jr. as Spiderman is a fascinating addition to the Avengers film series. The character was introduced in the previous Avengers film, The Incredible Hulk, where he was bitten by an atomic spider. He has undergone numerous personality and appearance changes since the time he was introduced before finally settling as Spiderman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There isn't any specific story to explain the change, however it is possible that he was bitten by the same spider, or was separated from his brother, or was captured and placed under the custody of the Strategic Insight Group.

In the Secret Wars storyline, after the Great War between the Avengers and the Xords, both the forces of both teams were strong to be defeated. One of the teams, called the Avengers decided it was time for the superheroes to their earlier days, and join the Avengers Initiative. They formed a group of self-proclaimed New Avengers. Luke Cage, a futurist, was one of the team members. When the New Avengers were formed, New Avengers, Spider-Man decided that it was the right time for him to step away from his beloved web-swinging responsibilities and take on the Spider-Man role again.

ดิอเวนเจอร์ส However, when the Avengers were gathered for their second mission, the first task that they faced was to defeat the Xords, an army of ofdinosaurs-like beings who controlled the earth during the time of the dinosaurs. The Avengers fought and ultimately destroyed the Xords. However, in the process several civilians were killed. The Avengers realized that they had never faced such a formidable foe before, and were stunned to find out that their enemy was a robotic-looking android called Scarlet Witch. The Avengers set out to defeat the evil robots that had risen from the depths of Earth. They discovered that it was not an easy fight and that the android was a beast with incredible strength, speed and agility.

The New Avengers quickly discovered the Scarlet Witch had created an artificial clone of herself and fought until the clone was defeated. After the clone had been defeated, the original Scarlet Witch teleported herself and the real Captain America back to the Avengers Tower. While there, the Avengers learned that the World Security Council had secretly allowed a rogue scientist to create the ultimate super-soldier, Weapon X. This man could transform any person into a weapon and also gained control of Captain America's mind. The Avengers attempted to stop the Weapon X program from going ahead however, to no avail.

The ongoing issues of Secret Wars, this time featuring the Avengers against X-Men which led to the creation of the New Avengers, a new team of Avengers. The Avengers were confronted by a new enemy this time - the psychotic humanoid threat known as the Madman. Also possessing mental capabilities of his own as well, the Madman was determined to conquer the Earth to bring evil upon it, and use its power to destroy those who opposed him. The Avengers and the X-Men eventually defeated Madman however the Avengers stopped him.
