Considering a current or past work experience, how could timeboxing have helped you provide more value to the customer?
Timeboxing means when we set or allot an exact time for a task to be completed in. In timeboxing, we proactively decide that how much time we will spend on a particular task that we must or are going to perform. There are number of projects that I have worked on, whose actual value was lower than the potential value just because of the delays.
During my experience as a software and web developer, our team was developing a website for a grocery store, and I still remember the expected and negotiated delivery date was 1st December and the owners of the grocery store decided to launch their website before December as they expected higher customer response on Christmas and New Year. But unfortunately, our time was unable to deliver the website on time and the owners of the grocery store were unable to grab the grocery sales share during the peak time as they expected it to be. Therefore, I think that timeboxing would have helped us to provide more value to the customer.
Timeboxing can also be used in scrum methodology such as to timebox the sprint, sprint planning, daily scrum, etc.
