Scatterdawns
Crafted by carefully infusing arcana through rounded stones, scatterdawns are stones with opaque exteriors but transparent, crystalline interiors. Once completed in the forging process, one opaque fave face must be completely removed, and on the opposite side a very small area of the face must be also removed.

When light hits the smaller face, it bounces around many times before scattering out as a sheet of softer light from the other side. The beauty and commodity of scatterdawns comes from the occasional spot of the outgoing light that dims or brightens, creating almost a glittering affect within the casted light.

Scatterdawns also have practical purposes in the realm of the arcane, as when spells are channeled through either side of the scatterdawn, they take on an effect known as fragmentation, whereupon impact with a target, it affects a larger area.

For damaging spells, when cast through a scatterdawn, they receive a certain amount if extra d6’s damage, of the spell’s type. The amount of d6’s is equal to the spell’s level over 2.

The same is applied to healing spells, but with healing instead of damage and d6’s used.

Scatterdawns shatter into a fine and sparkling (But valueless) powder once they have a spell channeled through them.

They are also naturally occurring, indicative of areas with high arcane activity.
