What Are the Different Types of CD Players?
CD Disc & Tape Players are the perfect addition to your electronics arsenal. top portable cd players For those that love listening to music while traveling, CD players can give you hands free enjoyment. You will no longer have to worry about having your CD player fall apart on you on a long flight or in a busy subway. Many new players can also play DVDs, so your system will allow you to enjoy movies and television shows along with your favorite music.

Most people purchase CD players because they want the portability of these types of devices. However, many people do not realize the wide variety of choices that are available in today's electronics market. A CD Disc player can be purchased to fit into any type of electronics system, whether it is a small notebook computer or a large high tech stereo system. The price range for these units is vast, and they are often considered an investment for the future.

One type of CD Disc & Tape Players are optical players. These types of players use a special laser printer to record audio data. The laser then alters the laser copy of the data into a magnetic disc that can be read by a CD writer. In order to operate this type of system, the player must connect to a CD disk or a DVD disc to accommodate the audio data.

CD Disc & Tape Players that utilize an optical system have an advantage over their mechanical counterparts. Because the laser drive records only the audio portion of a CD, the player does not need to constantly rewind and playback the audio. The CD/DVD drive can always go back to the beginning of the recording if necessary. This advantage is especially helpful to long term musicians who may want to continue making backup copies of their music library.

CD Disc & Tape Players that utilize a CDF system - which stands for CD Fuji System - tend to be less expensive than other types of players. CD Disc players - also known as CD writers - that use laser technology tend to use more expensive parts in order to achieve the high optical recording quality of a laser-written CD. Many of the CD writers that utilize CDF technology produce a higher bitrate than typical CD players - up to 96Kbps. The higher bitrate makes for a significant increase in sound clarity. Some CD Disc players are capable of playing the same music files as stereo players - such as LPs and CDs - at full stereo sound quality.

As mentioned above, some CD Disc players can also act as stereo players, playing two stereo tracks at the same time. If a personal computer has a CD Drive installed, the CD Disc player is connected to the computer via a USB port and can be used to listen to and play music files stored on the computer. Some computers even include audio interfaces that allow connection to external stereo systems. Some stereo players use specialized stereo adapters that connect to the input and output devices of your personal computer - rather than being attached directly to a CD Disc.

CD DVD players - are similar to CD players, but utilize a DVD writer and CD or DVD burner. Many players feature an inbuilt drive that can read and write the data from the DVD. Many players have inbuilt DVD burners, but they may not include a DVD Writer. These players have many of the same features as CD Disc players - including scratch protection, play lists, repeat play, part count, bit rate, and continuous playback.

CD-ROM (CD-ROM players) are similar to CD players - except they include a memory card for the data. CD-ROM players can be plugged into a USB port and use the same memory cards as USB flash drives and other portable media devices. A CD-ROM player basically acts like a compact disk. CD-ROM players that use a Compact Flash Drive or other removable storage device must be connected to a computer using a USB port. All CD-ROM players are copyright protected, but some do not use the "Secure Digital" format which is used on personal computers.
